  1. Sounds like you could do just about anything on that lake. Because of the way I like to fish I would go straight to the upper end of the lake. That way with the dirtier, shallow water I would be able to flip and pitch or throw a spinnerbait around visible cover, but is most likely not the only or the best way to catch them. My advise to you would be fish your strengths, fish something that you enjoy fishing.
  2. And I dont like BASS rules. You should still have to release it. I mean you got it by luck and not skill. Most of the time you dont just happen to run the bait over the fish. Usually the fish reacts to your bait and just misses it and you snag it on the side, especially with a crankbait so I agree with Marty. I wouldnt complain about that rule if I was fishing for $100,000 anyway..... or any amount of money for that matter.
  3. Wow! I cant believe how many people posted drop-shot rigging as a least favorite. I love to fish a drop shot rig. Also I cant believe all the people that posted jigs as a least favorite. I guess that we are all a little differant and could all learn alot from each other. I think more people like to fish fast than slow.
  4. Me and my buddy have caught several bass and a 15lbs carp off of the same dock. Ive never had a problem catching bass were there are carp.
  5. Bass and bluegill come from the same family scientifically speaking, so were you find bluegill 99% of the time you will find bass. It could be that the bass population is low and the bluegill population is overpopulated. It also could be that the bass are deep just as clipper said.
  6. Im not much on fishing fast with a crankbait or a spinnerbait. I do that when I think I can get away with it but I do alot better fishing slow with soft plastics and jigs. I love to flip and pitch or throw a senko. I guess I just feel like I have a better chance of catching a big fish if I use something slow.
  7. Oh yeh, I hooked two bass on one crankbait too.. in a tournament no less. That was quite a tournament.
  8. I've found that the bass move up in the shallows when the water floods. I've had success flipping jigs and throwing spinnerbaits around the newly flood cover.
  9. I always have kept a log in notebook at home, but I think the log that bassresource has will help alot.
  10. Did you think he was a fishing god or something? I came to the realization long ago that there is no way he could be catching those fish from a public waterway. But I like the show anyhow. I also agree with KU the show doesn't convey the normal day of fishing but it does make it seem as exciting as that, heck that's how I got started fishing (watching Bill Dance every change I got and taking his lessons to the water). P.S. - The bloopers were very funny.... ;D
  11. That's a cool idea I'll have to get in on some of that action..
  12. Well my stepbrother caught about a three pounder on a hot dog and a bobber and I've hooked a two pounder on a crappie jig before. But the weirdest of all was when I was walking down the bank of my pond and there was a bass right next to the bank, he was also facing the bank. When he saw me he paniced and swam right on the bank all I had to do was walk over there and pick him up.
  13. Im with alandis the slightest change in depth next to the cover can make a huge differance when your fishing those kinds of conditions.
  14. Bassboat - I like to go all out like most bass fisherman.
  15. This would probably help you become more versital but if you catch 10 fish in an hour on one bait I would stick to that bait. 8-)
  16. I believe that location will get you skunked way before lure and presentation will. I have found that as long as you are around fish there are several different ways to get them to bite.
  17. I love fishing in this condition. The bass will move up and tight to cover when the lake level gets higher and water clarity get muddier. My favorite thing to do is flip and pitch black/blue jigs tight to the cover. You can also thow a spinnerbait with a big colorado plade or a crankbait with a fairly wide wobble. As long as you get that bait in the strike zone of the fish tight to the cover you should catch several.
  18. I would love to fish with Avid in Flordia he seems to have plenty of knowledge and I think I could learn from the experience.
  19. The main thing to me is that you can cover more water with a texas-rig than a wacky, but with a wacky-rig the bait will stay in the strike zone alot longer. Both have there pros and cons.
  20. I think that scent can help alot at times, I believe that the scent was directing the fish to his bait alittle better. I've had days were I was sight fishing and I could get a cruising fish to turn around alot better with a scented bait than I could with a unscented one.
  21. I saw on one of his shows that he is friends with Joel St. Germain so that may have something to do with it.
  22. Maybe you could start by going to were a creek enters the lake and just follow the channel as it goes out into the main lake.
  23. One thing I would try is to find a change in the bottom. Even though the fish will likely be shallow because of the muddy water even a slight two-foot dropoff can hold alot of bass. Look for creek channels, river channels, road beds, and ledges. A good place to start would be were a creek runs into the side of the lake. Just a thought. Good luck.
  24. Remember that the higher you hold your rod tip the more sensitive your rod will be. Also as whopper-stopper said flouro is more sensitive than mono as well (you also could use braid if you would perfer it but I would stick to flouro if the water is clear as you said). Good Luck
