  1. I just bought an old Shakespeare casting reel and would like some background on it. I haven't found much by searching. It is a goldish colored Shakespeare that has this etched into the black frame on the cover by the spool: 1969B Model: EB It seems to be in great condition mechanically and nice cosmetically. I paid the guy $10.00 for it at a yard sale. Thanks for any info like: Value, Specs, Opinions, Best rod to pair with, Technique, etc...?? Steve

Dipped into the archives and pulled this one up instead of starting a new thread. My question is: Will a type of grape extract work as a form of Bass attractant when mixed in with some of my other items I use for a carrier and what other product would give me that grape scent I have come to love on those older plastics?
  3. Thank you, Tom. That is what I am looking to do. Simply store the bait without it getting hard is all. I have a LOT to store and this way is economical for me and simple to apply. I just wanted some more confirmation before I got to work. I am already started and on my way.
  4. I have 3 tubs filled with various types of soft plastic baits from Gander Mountain. (think frozen sherbert containers) mmmm... sherbert..... Sorry, lost my focus.... Ah yes, so I want to sort and store them for later using the following: 1. HEFTY quart sized slider freezer bags. 2. 6 FL OZ. bottle of Glycerin USP 99.5% 3. Nitrobait Gravy Attractant (Garlic, Shad, Craw) Q. Will the Glycerin have any negative short/long term effects on the plastics? Q. Will Glycerin help the Nitrobait Gravy bind to the plastic for a longer lasting scent hold? Q. Will the naturally sweet nature of Glycerin be attracting to Bass all by itself? Q. Any suggestions? If anyone remembers, Eagle Claw made the Nitrobait Gravy I listed above. It came in a small black squeeze container with a flip up stem applicator cap. I found about 40 of them last year for .25¢ each and sucked up every single one. I would like to hear your experience with this attractant as well. It is because of this supply that I decided to use it for storing my plastics and the Glycerin Please advise and nice to hear from all of you. I am a long time window shopper turned member and really looking forward to interacting with this great group of characters.
  5. If it hasn't been suggested already... Go out and find a backpack made for travel! They are in most ways identical to your everyday backpack with three huge exceptions: 1. Many of them are made out of a water and rip proof/resistant material. 2. They contain a telescoping handle that actually zips flush into the top of the bag, out of sight and mind. Now, the best part...3. They have a set of roller blade quality wheels on the bottom, allowing you to pull the bag instead of having to carry all that weight while still retaining the option of carrying it around via the two adjustable, padded shoulder straps. Mine was even designed to contain the shoulder straps while they are not in use, preventing either strap from getting hung up on anything while in tow. Just another way to look at an already great idea. Slab-O-Matic
