  1. Having seen so much trash around my local waters especially in the Potomac, I've been thinking of ways to try to involve the community to help clean up more. As a high school student I really want to try to keep the fisheries as clean as possible. I'm not sure whether I should try to pursue this idea so I wanted to get some feedback. Here is my proposal: -Create a Facebook group/page for the organization -Have people upload a video on the page on the water or on the shore with a bag or few items of trash that they collected. -Once they upload the video enter them in a giveaway of free baits and other fishing gear (I would probably have to ask companies or have people donate baits to use in the giveaway) -Randomly select a winner monthly or maybe bi-weekly Now this is just a brief idea of mine and just wanted to hear from other fishers whether they would be interested. It's a win-win as our waters can be kept more clean and those who are in need of fishing gear have a chance of getting it for free. Even if people try to take a video of their own trash, hey at least they aren't leaving it out.
  2. Any info on the bite lately? Are the bass out deep?
  3. I wish I knew how to fish deep, even shallow at times lol.... Can't really figure them out and just have to try my best with the small fishfinder I have.
  4. I have heard that the internals are basically the same due to being owned by the same company. However, the Simrad's screen looks much better than the Lowrance as well as the mounting system. I was wondering if anyone had experience with either one of these units and what there input is.
  5. How would you compare the 7" units being the garmin 7sv, helix 7, elite 7ti, and maybe even a 899?
  6. Does anyone know if they're spawning yet?
  7. Nice Vid! Look forward into seeing more
  8. Heading out tomorrow... Should I fish the creeks or shallow flats?
  9. To add on what Quan was saying, I would like to share this app I just discovered called fishidy. With your smartphone, when you catch a fish, you can hit a button that says "add catch". It lets you record where you are, the exact time, and even the temperature. It also allows you record weight, length, the bait you used, and any other things you want to add. Another good thing is you can share your catches with the public, only friends, or just keep it for yourself. You can mark any structure you find and will all appear on your map. I haven't used this app yet, but it seems like a great way to look back and see what you did last year and try to figure a pattern out.
  10. Went ahead and bought the map. Any really important things I need to know about it?
  11. How detailed is the GMCO map of the res? I'm mainly interested in the water depths. I'm just wondering what it has so I can decide to buy it or not.
  12. Yea I have a small hummingbird with traditional and downscan, but no gps or maps. I pretty much try everything when I'm out but mainly soft plastics and jigs with the occasional crankbait. I think my problem is locating the fish. Do you just roam around on your boat till you find structure or a drop off? What do you usually use when you find the fish deep?
  13. Hey guys, I have fished the reservoir quite a bit and couldn't find a pattern in any of those days. Skunked about half of those days. I have a modified Jon boat with a 8 hp motor. I have tried to fish points/drop offs , but haven't been able to find out how to fish deeper water especially in the summer at all. How do you guys locate the fish and target them? I launch out of fountainhead. Any tips and help would be greatly appreciated.
