  4. I was thinking a 3/8 ounce strike king bitsy bug flipping jig was a good option in watermelon or green craw for the clear water in upstate NY. It is also around 2 bucks and i can just change my trailer from a paca chunk (watermelon) or a swimbait like the swing impact( watermelon with white bottom i was thinking ) on 12- 14 lb floro mh 7ft rod and use everyway i can think of swimming, skipping, pitching light cover ? Any thoughts on this??
  5. also i am using an albright knot
  6. I hear so many people say they use mono backing to save money. Can some one please tell me or maybe show a demonstration video of how to do it . I am trying to do mono to braid with a floro leader . Is it possible to spool two baitcaster reels with 150 yd spool of 60lb braid each. how far should i spool the mono so the knot between it and the braid wont show? sorry for all the questions but line aint cheap and i dont want to have to experiment myself! thanks
  7. Does anyone do well swimming a jig for smallies? what colors, size, brand, etc
  8. I heard this jerk bait is almost identical to the mega bass ito 110, but that the RC STX hooks and split rings needed to be changed. Any one do this ? If so what size and brand treble hooks?

I am interested in using swim baits starting next season. Zoom swimmin fluke jr and SK caffeine shad were the types i was looking into. I fish clear water for the most part. How would you rig them ? what Rod, reel, and line size would you use. What time of year would you fish it ?Deep , shallow or any depth ? what Color would you select? What Brand swimbait would you use? What Hook or jighead would you use. How do you fish it? You dont have to answer all the questions if you do not want to any advice is appreciated . thanks !
  11. What are your preferred colors for baits, hard and soft plastics? I fish clear water lakes in NY should i stick with green pumpkin for soft plastics and shad colors for moving baits? Any suggestions for color of baits for the area? thanks!

Any one have a lure or bait they use multiple ways ? I fish NY state and my home lake is erie so a good example would be using a tube bait as a dropshot ( I dont do it but i have hear of people doing so?) Give me your secret! Detail with specific brands would be much appreciated. thanks.
  13. Looks great for shore fishing maybe but i feel like my boater would kill me if they saw that lol
  14. actually meant to say 3700 size i fixed it in original post
  15. Yea this is like a two part question didnt really like posting two diffrent topics . the bag is not for carrying rods it is for tackle , soft plastics and the stuff mentioned above. I dont really take 8 rods to a tournament unless it would be a multiple day trip with practice days.
  16. Thanks i will try the bungee balls out sounds like my best option
  17. Anyone have any creative ideas for transporting your rods(up to 8) more easily and safely to and from tournaments? I wa thinking some velcro from hardware store would work well with the rod sleeves on all the rods . Also how big of a bag is too big? It is the plano guide series 3700 bag and carries everything including food, drink, rain gear , cold gear( jackets, gloves, hats and such). If i put the bag in front of me out of the boaters way should i have any trouble?
  18. Does anyone use a heavy football jig 3/4 oz instead of a blade bait when the time is right? does stroking a football jig work well for smallmouth bass in place of blade bait?
  19. now that i think about it a fast action would make sense with the bait only having one hook . thank you for the replies everyone.
  20. so i just purchased about 7 rod gloves for my rods for effieciency and protection . being a co angler i seemed to waste a lot of time getting rods untangled so i figure i will try them out. Does anyone have problems with the rod gloves flying off when running 40mph plus on the water?? keep in mind that me being a co angler my rod tips will be positioned towards the back of the boat hence my fear of the rod gloves possibly flying off. Please let me know what you think based on your experiences thanks!
  21. thank you for the insight. i have bought the swiming hornet but never caught anything yet and had one lying around . seems like a great middground between a spinner bait and a crank . was thinking about even using a medium moderate CB rod so i can feel bites better
  22. looking to gear up for my next season of bass fishing in western new york . I want to put a small swimbait like the Zoom swimming super fluke in 4 inch size on a 1/4 oz underspin (Sworming Hornet sling Blade Flutter) for smallies what are good color choices for swimbait ? Green pumpkin like everythign else ?
  23. what is your prefered weight for texas rig weights and jigs in 1-10 FOW ??
