  1. did you make it out to Bullards? how did it go? I'm heading there this weekend and curious what the bite is like since the water came up
  2. The bite has started picking up and should be really good for numbers, but not so much size. Lots of debris so be careful if fishing from a boat. Pick up some Dry Creek tubes in the "Old Ugly" color. Remind me when the date gets closer and i can give you a more exact report.

i really like the Smith's with Chromapop lenses, but i've never tried a pair from Costa so i can't really compare the two. I've always heard good things about both
  4. I normally use Shimano 2500 size for all of my M and ML spinning rods, but i was curious what you guys suggest for a MH spinning rod? Would the 2500 size still be a good size to stick with or would i be better off stepping up to a 3000 size reel? Budget is up to ~$200 for the reel. These will be general purpose setups to use for a little bit of everything. Sometimes i take people out that don't know how to use a Baitcaster so its nice to have another option than just a M sized spinning reel. I've also been looking at Daiwa spinning reels (Procyon and Ballistic), but i'm less familiar with their sizing. It seems like their 2500 is bigger than a Shimano 2500 and might be closer to equivalent to a comparable 3000?
  5. I haven't found a lake yet in California where that color doesn't work
  6. I thought it was $12 total for park/launch fee, but maybe it went up a $1. I have a pass so I haven't been paying attention to the cost. A couple top baits at Lake Oroville almost year round are tubes (Dry Creek 3.5inch tournament tube in the Old Ugly color specifically), the drop shot with a roboworm (4.5 or 6 inch in morning dawn, hologram shad, MMIII, just to name a couple popular colors), small swimbaits like keitech, and wacky rigged senkos. I have been fishing other lakes the last month or two, so not sure what the bite is like but I would recommend either the North Fork if launching out of Lime Saddle or the Middle Fork if launching out at the Spillway or Bidwell. Those areas always have lots of bass. Oroville is a total "numbers" lake though, so don't expect any lunkers.

  8. i like the Dry Creek Tournament Tube
  9. I've always had some trouble targeting suspended bass. I fish a few lakes that have lots of spotted bass and sometimes they go deep and suspend feeding on bait. What kind of a spoon or vertical jig do you guys recommend? These fish frequently suspended in 30-50 feet of water so something that would work in that depth range would be best.
  10. i just ordered mine and i believe it was $85 plus tax and shipping. It came out to a little over $100 total.
  11. They stock little 6-8 inch trout at lake murray in the winter. Hardly anybody actually catches any of the trout, they are basically just feeding the bass.
  12. a local tackle shop is going out of business and has the cus72mh on clearance for $120. Its the one that came out in like 2008. My question is this still a good deal and how would this older rod (originally $219) compare to the newer rods in that sale price range like an equivalent *** for example?
  13. do you have a favorite color for the square bill?
