    I am familiar with high sticking rods...I did it with a rod when I was a kid. This rod tip splintered and broke way before it reached that point. I am certainly not perfect and have broken my share of tip in lots of stupid ways, but this was not one of them lol. 
     
    On a good note I talked to the owner of the shop and I am going to get a better rod and pay the difference on it. I was glad we reached a good resolution because I like that store and wanted to be able to go back.
