Tacklebox Recommendation
Since I've gotten more and more into bass fishing my lure/bait collection has grown a lot. The past couple of years I've been able to get by with my soft sided Berkeley tacklebox with the three containers that came with it, but this year I don't think it will be enough, so I'm looking to upgrade my tackle box for the season and wondering what are some pretty decent ones at not to steep of a price ($40-$60). I've got my lures organized and separated and I'm probably looking for something that can hold 5-6 average sized containers. I prefer a soft sided tackle box simply because it's easier to transport/carry around and keep organized.

Need Help With A Jig Setup
I want to start using jigs this year and don't know what to use them on. I have 2 rod and reel setups that I think I could also use for johs. My first one use for soft plasticsnt that is 6'6" MH with an Abu Garcia Orra 2SX (6.4:1) and I'm planning on getting a rod for top water frogs that is 7'-7'3" and a reel with somewhere around 7.1:1 gear ratio. Which one should work better? Or should I just wait till I have the money and get a seperate jig setup? My other setups are a 5.4:1 Lew's Super Dury Speed Spool on a 6'9" MH rod I want to use for my treble hook lures and then I have 7.1:1 reel I'm getting rod for thats around 6'6"-7' for spinnerbaits. But from what few things I've read I don't think those would work for jig fishing.

How Many Rods Do You Carry When On The Bank?
If I'm spending all day somewhere then I'll bass and catfish. For that I'll bring my catfish spinning rod and one maybe two casting rods for bass. If I'm going somewhere that I can park right next to where I am fishing I'll bring all the rods that I use and leave stuff in the truck until I need it.

Need Help Picking A Blank
Still trying to get started in building rods and im collecting supplies that I need when I have the money. I thought that before I start an expensive one I should have some practice. I want to build a rod for my grandpa that wouldn't be too expensive but still decent. Specifically I want to make a spinning rod for mostly bass fishing. Nothing to specific because he's old fashioned only has a couple rods he uses on a few small ponds on their farm. I don't want to really break the bank on this one considering it will be my first but I do want something of decent quality. Any help would be grea. Thanks

Show off your Stuff
Just finished getting this all setup, Lew's Super Duty. I'm just starting to really get into bass fishing. This is my first baitcasting setup and working on getting my second. I've been browsing this thread for awhile and finally wanted to share something.

Good All Around Rod And Reel For Pike
Along with bass fishing I've been looking into pike fishing. And I want to know what would be a good all around rod and reel to buy? I don't want anything to pricey, somewhere around the $100 mark since I won't be using it as much. I want to get a baitcasting reel, should I look at the gear ratios the same way I do when I'm bass fishing? I was also thinking I would be able to use my bass rods and reels, would those work fine? I have a 5.4:1 Lew's Super Duty on a 6'6" MM rod I use for treble hook lures and a 6.4:1 Abu Garcia Orra 2SX on a 6'6" MH rod I use for soft plastics, rigs, and spinnerbaits until I can get a setup specific for that.

First Time Fishing Salt Water And Need Some Help
I am going on vacation with the girlfriends family to South Carolina in July and she said that we would have some time to go fishing so I'm excited because I've never fished saltwater, but because of that I don't know very much and don't have saltwater specific gear. Will I be able to use my low profile baitcasters and rods that I use for everyday freshwater fishing? I have a 6'6" MM and a 6'6" MH (casting) that I use for bass and a 7' MH and a 9' H (spinning) that I use for catfish. I don't want to buy a whole new rod and reel to just use for a few days, if anything I could probably buy a new rod. Should my gear be good? If this helps I will be mostly fishing with lures using my casting rods and maybe some live/dead bait with my spinning rods. I will probably just try and fish right from the beach or if there's something like a bay/channel nearby I want to try that. Any help you could give would be great. Thanks

Catfishfishing Rod And Reel
Thanks for all the replies. I found my rod from last year that I thought I had thought I left somewhere. It's a Shakespeare Ugly Stick Catfish. It's 7' MH. It worked great last year so I should be good on a rod for when I'm not going after huge catfish. Just need to find a decent spinning reel to put on it

Catfishfishing Rod And Reel
Along with Bass fishing I do some catfishing. Not sure any of you do too but I was wondering what kind of rods and reels do some of you use for it? I mostly fish one spot, a pretty good size lake in a sub division that used to be a very large lake big enough for a little boat fishing until they shrunk it. So the fish are a decent size range from 10-20 lb fish with a few larger ones in the high twenties lower thirties. I also cat fish in the Ohio river and other rivers off it a couple times a year. That would be my main Rod. If possible I want to buy a little heavier duty/ stronger set up for when I go to paylakes with some of my friends. The fish in there can get to over 100 lbs. The really serious guys there use surf rods, so I was gonna look in that area but if you guys have any suggestions for that too that would be great. Carter

Pretty New To The Forum
I've been asking some questions, browsing, etc. on here for a little bit now and just saw the introductions section so I figured I would come introduce myself. I'm 19 and from northern Kentucky about 5-10min from Cincinnati. I've fished my whole life mostly just cheap $30-$40 rod and reel combos with some worms/hot dogs on a hook, then sit and wait. Past few years I've been really getting into fishing. I catfish a little bit with a couple buddies at certain spots, but I've always liked bass fishing and really got into towards the end of last year. Got my first baitcaster this winter and have a second one on the way. I joined my colleges Bass Fishing Team/Club this year. I fish from the shore mostly. Get on a boat here and there if possible. I'm hoping to be able to buy one in the next few years. Anyway thanks to the people who have already helped me with my questions and thanks in advance for helping me with any future questions I might have. Carter

Reel Seats
What do the 2 different sizes of reel seats mean? Are the specific to certain types of reels/blanks or is it more of a personnel thing and just varies on which type you like?

Compatible Reel Parts
Are there different reels made by the same manufacturer that have compatible parts? I wanted to order some colored parts like a drag star, tension know, handle, etc. but hedgehog doesn't show my Abu Garcia reel. This might be a stupid question but I'm just curios

Custom Painting Reels

Yeah, I've just been looking into it. I've been looking for an old or a cheap reel I can get to try and take apart and put back together before I start- Custom Painting Reels
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but it seemed like the best. I want to try and custom paint a reel or two of mine and I can't find really find anything to help me. I want to know what kind of paints to use, how to prep the reel, and all that kind of stuff but anytime I google it I mostly find people looking for company's to do it for them. I'm wondering if anybody can give me a few tips on it or point me in the right direction. Thanks, Carter- Choosing A Rod Blank
I'm trying to get into building my first rod and I have been browsing mudhole.com the past couple days trying to figure things out and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the different rod blanks to choose from. I want to build a 6'6" - 7' Medium Heavy rod for the PQ I hope to pick up this weekend. I don't want to drop $150 on just the blank but I also want to make a decent rod I can use for awihle. Is there anything I can do to narrow down my options? Do you have any suggestions for a good one?- 1St Time Airbrushing
What are those made of? I'm starting to get into lure building and I've been looking into making wooden ones but thinking about getting some blank ones already snapped to practice painting on- Great Customer Service At Bps
I've alwys liked BPS seems like they have a lot of people there willing to answer your questions and help you. Went there to return a reel and buy a new one this Saturday. Return was no hassle took about 5 min. There's a brand new Field and Stream just down the road from me, but the only have one person working the fishing section. I'll go there for quick stuff like hooks and weights but if I'm buying a new rod or reel I'll make the 30 min drive to BPS- caudburns11
