  1. Thanks, the 3rd bite you described is what I'm struggling with because of all the wood and stumps in the bottom of my local pond. I always feel a little weight every few cast and I'll set the hook and it will be nothing. I'm hoping with time I'll be able to distinguish whether it's a bite or not once I get a feel for the bait
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Haven't been able to get back on until today. But to answer most of the questions I'm pretty much using 1/4 to 3/8 oz jigs with a reaction innovations trailer. Thanks for the advice. I think some of my problem comes from not having the experience of how to retrieve the line and keeping tension in the line. I will try the night fishing if I get a chance. Thanks again Thanks, I will check out the video. I'm learning more patience every time I go out and try. I think most of my problem comes from not letting the bait drop/reeling in to fast and not working it correctly
  3. This year I've decided I'm gonna force myself to learn jigs but it has only resulted in frustration. I've been trying to practice different retrieves and I how to detect a bite but I don't have any luck. I know your supposed to watch your line but it feels like I wouldn't be able to tell because my line is always moving and shaking when I'm bouncing the jig off the bottom. I really want to learn how to fish jigs but I can't figure out how to detect bites
  4. So on the 25th day they do an extra 25% off the already on sale items?
  5. Thanks, time to add some goodies to my cart
  6. Order number 1 of 2 from TW's black Friday sale. This was the one I was most excited about, couldn't wait to get my hands on my new reel. I had my eye on it for awhile and decided to pull the trigger with the sale.
  7. do the sales on the items last just that day or do they stay up until the promotion has ended?
  8. Girlfriend doesn't help the bait monkey in me, got me my new favorite lure, I love how this thing looks. Can't wait to get this thing in the water and try it out.

  10. Yeah that makes sense. I've never really fished jerkbaits. Thinking about getting into it next season. Whenever I really fished them I was using my cranking setup. Thanks for your reply
  11. I saw the Halo twilight series was on sale at TW, couldn't pull the trigger since I already bought a reel. I've also never used halo brand before. Would you mind letting me know what you think when they arrive?

  13. I've been thinking about having a seperate jerkbait setup. I have a Shimano Sellus crankbait rod I was going to use, but I was wondering what the best gear ratio would be, I have a 5.4:1 Lews super duty that needs a house for. Should a gear ratio in the 5s be good or should I be looking for something in the 6 range
  14. Just put in my order, didn't need many lures but did get a concept "a" reel, 600yd spool of yo zuri 12lb hybrid, and some mustad kvd treble hooks to upgrade some cranks with. Might go back and get a new spinerbait rod, I've been looking at the Halo Twilite Series one that is already on sale. Any thoughts on them?
  15. This is how it is for most of them but today I was taking them out and organizing them, and noticed a couple were bent at the tip where it clicks into the holder.
  16. I've been using the Plano spinnerbait box but I've noticed that they bend the spinnerbaits a lot. What do you guys use to store your spinnerbaits. All of the other boxes I've tried they don't fit right.
  17. I'm not sure of the name. I got it at bass pro. It came with some of there boxes but I replaced them with some shallow pro latch planos and a couple other ones for crankbaits, spinnerbaits and a terminal tackle one. I love the soze because I can fit all of my stuff in there
  18. Abu Garcia SX3, don't have to much to spend on fishing so this was kind of a splurge for me. I absolutely love it and can easily tell the difference from cheap reels now. Also got into using senkos, have picked up a bunch of those and love them
  19. Me and my buddies never seem to have luck while fishing for big catfish in pay lakes. We will catch 10lbers and around that at neighborhood lakes with no problems then when we spend all night at a pay lake with big ones in there we seem to have no luck. We use bluegill, shad, gold fish, and other stuff they sell at the place and never have any luck. I don't know what else to try
  20. I don't have that combo, but I've got that rod with an Abu Garcia Revo 3 and I love it
  21. I've always fished, but last year I got really into bass fishing. I started with a cheap spinning setup then this year I got my first baitcaster and loved it. After reading and reading about everything the bait monkey has it me hard and the field and stream that opened about 5 min away hasn't helped at all. Love walking in there and getting something new. This is a real addiction
  22. Thanks! Just didn't want to ignore it and end up with a messed up reel, good to know noting is wrong though
  23. I am fairly new to Baitcasters and I am having trouble with braided line on a couple reels, I put some 30lb spiderwire on two of my reels with mono backing, then when I put them on the rod and started to play around with them and cast them. There is almost like a rubbing sound when I'm reeling the line back up, not as smooth as the reels with mono/fluoro on them. Since I'm newer to casting reels idk what it could be. Anybody have a way to fix this? Or is this common
