  1. I have the BB1HLZ and I have casted quite well with 3/16 stuff. It's amazing how it just doesn't want to backlash. It's a great reel for the price. And she'll stand up just fine to the monsters. Caught my first musky on her this past weekend in Minnesota. Amazing fish, amazing reel.
  2. I'm with you. Anal about my fishing equipment. I've read about this happening to a few people. I bought one a few weeks ago and haven't used it yet. I hope it's covered under warranty. It has a 3 year warranty. At least we didn't pull a Bill Dance and cut them to length with a ceiling fan.
  3. Ok, let me ask again. Price aside, and don't jump to Megabass, what rod should I get?
  4. My main baitcaster is working at $250. I've got $100 in Veritas rod and $137 in Lew's BB1. The Lew's reel will run me around the same as the BB1. I'd ove to find a rod around $100-$150.
  5. I'm looking for a high quality spinning rod. Pretty much set on a Lew's reel, just don't know where to go for rods. I'm used to micro guide on my casting rods, how good are they on spinning rods? Prefer cork handles.
  6. Josh, this is news to me. I never heard of the stuff. I just tie a blood or surgeon's knot and be done with it. This does, however, make me want to do research...
  7. Everyone is correct. The exception is the leader knot. I've tied many a leaders on my micro guide rods. Not a one has caught. Use the right line and it shouldn't be an issue.
  8. Sadly, TWRA has recently stated that registration number must come from state offices. This contrasts badly against our beautiful Ranger. Could be worse....could be without a boat.
  9. Basically, everyone is saying buy a Lew's that's over $100. We all agree that they're great reels.
  10. I actually bought my last 2 reels for the family there with an open clamshell. Then again, I made the manager open it so I could test the reels myself. Only good thing about Dicks is the decent customer service. They never carry the CCI Standard Velocity ammo I need...
  11. Hey now...Santa has brought me some good lures in the past. And Bluebasser86 is right. For me though, it's this little thing called money. Payday is a sad day for my wallet.
  12. If all works out well in the near future, I'll be towing with a new Silverado 6.2 or a Colorado 3.6. Just have to really sit down and think about which I like better...
  13. We used the barrel method when we had the Bullet. The big blue drums cut in half work perfectly, unless you plan on really giving it a few revs.
  14. I prefer my BB1 to it. I felt no difference between the two. and at $100 difference, I'd look into the BB1.
  15. Nothing about it on their site. This is intriguing. Where'd you hear about it?
  16. I was not impressed. The baitcaster was an astonishment. I actually prefer my old Pflueger to the spinning. Lew's has their Tournament Pro HP at that same price. I spent the extra for the Gold Spin High Speed and I love it.
  17. I may be old school, but I "relieved" my old man of his spinnerbait pouch years ago. Just throw them in, roll it up, and it'll store almost anywhere. Even keep a few extra blades/swivels/skirts in it.
  18. Have one in the boat. Hasn't been abused and it's still reading accurate.
  19. Owner satisfaction is an understatement. I've never heard a Ranger owner complain about his boat unless the previous owner left it in horrible shape.
  20. Anybody saying Ranger is right. For your lakes, it get's no better. Granted, you'll get some weird looks pulling a tube behind the undisputed king of bass boats, but it'll keep the ball and chain happy.
  21. I bet I looked like a moron paddling my boat to shore...
  22. It justifies. The boats lack in one area, and the local Bullet dealership will happily let you know. Ranger has never had the best gelcoat. They've been up there, but never top. You want the top of the line gelcoat in a bass boat, look no further than Bullet. My old man had one for 25+ years and, with a little care and knowledge, It looked like it rolled off the showroom floor when he sold it last year. It is a name. Forrest Wood or Billy Joe down at the local lot? I know where my money is staying.
  23. Got one in white already ordered. Why someone would want this on anything is beyond me. I believe this piece of art goes on the wall in the man cave.
  24. I bought one last week. Feel great. Went with the MH vs the M. Loved it so much I chose it over the Carbonlite I was looking at. It was also $30 cheaper. Absolutely love the feel of it and I can't wait to get it on the water.
