@punch what lake are you guys fishing?

@FishingMN There definitely feeding, but im not really targeting deep structure or weedlines yet there is too much forage shallow. In other words i think they are suspended over deeper water but feeding shallower i expect this to hold true untill sunfish are finished spawning.

I notice a lot of guys show up to a lake fish some deep structure spots don't get bit and leave in 2 hours. Its really weird they get so locked in to looking for that bite they totally overlook shallower patterns.

I think its kinda misleading many of us still had to learn how to fish without electronics. As we got older we were able to purchase a boat and electronics. As far as electronics bringing more people into fishing i would say no for me it was memories of fishing with my grandfather. I think the internet is bringing more people to bass fishing and sites like BR allows people with little to no background with bass fishing to gain information.

I dont know about smallies but i think the largies spawned in two waves two weeks apart. I live in Minnesota and we had the same weather on opener i caught them pre spawn 3 days later i was catching spawned out females. I then had 2 weeks of males with some females mixed. Now its females feeding up very quickly. I think some of the females spawned twice.

I think this is a real key point, has really helped me pattern bigger fish, shallow or in mid depth grass or structure.

Bladed jigs skip very well as do keitechs.

Jig, bladed jig, keitechs with belly weighted hooks.

Dock skipping puts lots of strain on a stick bait where the hook is located. It's ez for small fish to pull it apart at the middle. Try texas rigging it or try a jig to eliminate the small fish.

I just use a splitshot sinker and a vmc wackey hook.

Once I take someone's money to do a job i do that job. Both those guys knew the deal and eachother and that lake very well. One guy got paid and lived up to his obligations sponsors and family, the other quit. Basically took his ball and went home. I guess im lucky to have had coaches and adults in my life that taught me how unacceptable that is. Maby he just isn't built for the pressure of fishing at that level.

Yes. Its not about what there bitting its where why how. I know i can get bit on a senko, i want to get bit by the biggest fish the most. I want to fish the best the fastest. Big jigs allways get bit. My only decision is how fast can I fish that big jig. I ask myself should I go to a big punch rig?

Yea i know but the most important thing about fishing to me is knowing the kind of fisherman i am and being that. I am an admirer of of fitness fisherman and i learn so much but herr in Minnesota I'll do me.

I really wish i had the patients to fish a wacky rig. I don't even skip them any more, and they catch so many fish. One thing I've noticed so far this season is that the life cycle of the fish is more advanced than the life cycle of the vegetation. That seems to really dictate where good fish are holding even though the water temperature is rising so fast. Fish seem to be gravitating towards the best vegetation weather that's on shore emergent or submergent vegetation.

Females are starting to bite pretty good. Still pretty shallow.

Nice. I love the green for the natural lake in the north country. There is a company called fuse that sells lenses for native glasses at half the price if you wanna get some more lense options.

When you watch bass eat live critters they will bite them and spit them out until they stop moving then eat it. They also do this when they eat off the bottom and draw in silt mud or gravel, they will take it off the bottom and spit it all out then eat the critter.
