thanks guys im looking to go back this saturday and try the same spot again. its a old gravel pit turned into park/lake. the water is super clear and the the only good shallow part is the only part with vegetation too. everywhere else in the lake is steep drops from 5ft then down too 20ft+ its fall here already so im aiming the shallows. caught those 2 smallies a largemouth and a pike on a kvd1.5 sexy shad. im thinking of trying a jerkbait and other squarebills. i love to flip so hopefully theyll be agressive.

I just caught my first 2 smallie yesterday. Thank God! I was impressed about the fight everyone says they put up. I'm looking to catch more this weekend. Any tips? I caught mine on a kvd 1.5 fishing shallow clear water. I live in northern Illinois.

il post a pic up of my jig with a flexed hook. i think i still have it. i bend them back if theyre still kinda new. i put on in my hall of fame box for doing its duty this season. i really like sk. but il give those jigs a try and see how they work for me. i like something like the hack attack jig.

ive tied nothing but polmars and never lost a lure unless i get hung up. using 12 15 and 20 lb test. ive used berkely trilene 100 % fluorocarbon. invisix, bps xps flurocarbon, seaguar red label.

anyone know when the new ducketts are coming out? how good do yall think it will be compared to the micro magic?

anyone on here fish a strike king structure jig or the heavy hook version of the tour grade football jig? i been catching them pretty good all year on the tour grade jig but i lost atleast 5 big ass bass due to a flexed hook. i hate losing fish like most of us. im throwing them on a 7' medhvy carbon lite with 20lb test seaguar red label. too much of a hookset for the hook or the bass is too strong???

I was fishing this small lake in a rich neighborhood no one really fishing for the first time. Seen at least 10 bass jump close to the bank about 60-70 ft away to my right. They were huge. Water was dirty from recent rain so I threw my chartreuse spinner bait and about 5 casts later I hook up with a bass I didn't set the hook since all my bass have smashed a spinner and hook up pretty good. Anyway after about 4 cranks it gets off. I was ticked and disappointment since they were Alot of huge ones jumping. Didn't get another bite for the rest of the time I was there. Might have been a big one might not. But we all have those times of what if. Yall get your heart broken this weekend? Lol

thinking of getting this rod but i read a thread about the paint chipping off and line guides not being aligned right. maybe it be best to get the bass pro insurance or whatever they call it to just keep exchanging it when it goes bad?? besides that how good of a rod is it compared to other rods in the $100 range.

yea guys im thinking of throwing some rc squarebills this weekend. get some spro ones too. the kvd 1.0 and 1.5 are gonna be hard to put down but i guess its time for a change. got the one on my pic with a 1.5. barely had him hooked. the sexy shad color gets more bites then all my other colors combined so il buy those in the rc2s.

i did notice the stretch the line had when i was tying knots. good thing i got the seaguar

i used it today. didnt have a problem with casting or knot strength. i still dont trust it though. so far so good. i even got snagged a couple of times and didnt break off or anything. i did notice my line was frayed a bit at the end of the day so ima have to cut and retie.

thanks man. ima try the seaguar invizx. in a couple of months after i put some wear on my current spools. its still in the 40s60s here in northern Illinois. had some sleet come down today

I HAD THE BIGGEST NASTIEST BACKLASH EVER TODAY. I HAD MY REEL SPOOLED UP WITH BPS XPS FLUOROCARBON 12LB TEST. ITS MY SHALLOW TO MEDIUM CRANKING REEL. DIDNT WANT TO GO GET A NEW SPOOL OF XPS AT BASS PRO SO I WENT TO MY LOCAL WALMART. I WAS GONNA GET VICIOUS FISHING 100% FLUOROCARBON IN 12LB TEST BUT THEY DIDNT HAVE IT. THEY USUALLY DO BUT OH WELL. MY ONLY OPTION WAS THE BERKLEY VANISH. I GOT IT IN 14LB TEST JUST TO BE SAFE. I DONT WANT MY LURES SNAPPING OFF WHEN I CAST. WHAT DO YALL THINK OF THIS LINE???
