  1. I'm a fan of the weighted jig heads. My favorite is the Zappu Inchi and my back up is the Gamakatsu G-Finesse. My preferred weight is 3/32 depending on current and depth.
  2. Welcome from Livingston Co! We are blessed to have many great bodies of water near us. -JC
  3. Dobyns Fury 734c or 735c, either would treat you well. Been fishing mine for a few months and it is sensitive and durable. I put my equipment through their paces. Matched mine with a Diawa Tatula and 50 lb FX2. To answer your question; 734c, the 7 is 7 foot, the 3 is 3 inch and the last number is the power, 4 power is heavy and 5 power is mag heavy. If you look at the rods on the full tackle warehouse site and not the mobile site you'll get the full informational rundown.
  4. Check out Geobass on YouTube. I'm not a fly fisherman, but it's amazing to watch, and you'd probably learn a few things by watching those guys.
  5. Picking apart shallow cover. Frog, spook, and/or jig/soft plastic.
  6. I've been using the Dobyn's Fury 734C for that purpose and it's been a beast. For $109, it fishes like a much more expensive rod. You'd be hard pressed to find better at that price point in my opinion. If you're fishing some heavy cover you could always step up to the 735C. Dobyn's for life here.
  7. I believe the Kunoo Type 2 is the one Ken Iyobe uses, but it doesn't matter, every style is sold out. If anyone every hears about some becoming available, throw me a line. Fishing pun intended.
  8. It was much better.
  9. Thanks everyone for your time. Another mystery bass fishing dilemma solved.
  10. BAM!!! You are the man!!! Now how do I navigate a website order in Japanese!!! You don't happen to speak Japanese too do you? You are awesome brother!!!
  11. It is a very similar rigging system. Appears they call it a "pro rig" and you can't tell from the pics if it goes through the top like Ken's does. Why can't Ken Iyobe just hop on Bass Resource and throw me a bone?!?
  12. Well that's a bummer. I've searched everywhere and nothing looks right. He talks in the video about what it is, but I don't speak Japanese. Oh well. If I'm ever meant to find out what it is than I will. At least I stumped Bass Resource, that's a consolation prize.
  13. Here's a better pic of it. Doesn't appear to be a line thru. It seems as if the treble hook is attached to the inside of the bait somehow.
  14. I was wondering if anyone knew and model and maker of this swimbait that Ken Iyobe is seen using in this video. I included a picture below. It's a large, black, paddle tail, line thru swim bait that looks to be more of a pliable rubber than a soft plastic. It has red eyes in a similar shape to Spro lures. The video is available on YouTube if anyone needs a better view. Thought I would throw it out there and see if anyone on here was famililiar with it. Thanks everyone and have a great day!! Justin
  15. Winter - jerk bait Spring - spinnerbait Summer - one knocker spook (all around favorite) Fall - red eye shad
  16. Me three. 7'4" H rod. 7.1 or greater gear ratio reel. 65 lb Power Pro braid. Probably my favorite all around setup. I can use it for a lot more than you would think or most people would recommend. I feel comfortable fishing almost anything but treble hook lures with it.
  17. I do something very similar when fishing from the bank. I just peg a punch skirt before the swim bait hook. I've done okay on that setup, but I typically just use the punch skirt and a Texas rig. It has the profile of a jig while still being weedless.
  18. I went through Roland Martin's Marina in Clewiston back in March. We went for 6 hours and caught a bunch of Florida hogs. I had expectations of going out and punching mats all around the lake. The reality was we stayed in one money spot and used live shiners. I'm so glad we did, that's why you hire a pro. All of us caught fish and had an absolute blast. I would go through Roland Martin's Marina again in a heartbeat. My avatar is one of the medium sized bass caught on that trip. Hope this helps. If you need more information on the specific guide we used, I'd be happy to help. My understanding is all their guides are unbelievable anglers who know the Big O like the back of their hand.
  19. I would just use a drop shot if you're using nightcrawlers. Keep it simple. You can easily control the distance to be off the bottom. Many many articles and videos available for rigging a drop shot.
  20. Squarebill Spook Shaky head Spinnerbait S-Weightless fluke (By the time I made it to the final choice I needed it to be an "S" lure) Honorable mention: T-rig rage craw or rage menace
  21. Thanks a lot. Wow! That was quick. Impressive. Bought the package for 18 bucks. Thought that was a great deal.
  22. These are the only markings left on the rod. Driving along and this guy has a "fishing gear for sale" sign in front of his house. Who wouldn't stop? Picked this up mostly for the reel that was attached... A perfect condition Penn 430ss. Now curiosity has the best of me and I'm trying to find out the make of the rod. Thanks for any helpful input.
  23. Zoom Baby Brush Hog in watermelon candy. #1 soft plastic confidence bait.
