Guaranteed Start For Outboard Motor
Yes, has carbuerator. I start it okay but sometimes it is finicky, mostly curious what that fool-proof method was, lol.

Guaranteed Start For Outboard Motor
I am not sure where I read it, might have been this forum. Somebody posted this sure-fire method that some mechanic had told him about long ago and that it works. It was something like... squeeze the bulb 5 times. Push the key in to choke the engine x-times. Let the engine sit for ten seconds without doing anything. Crank. I dunno, something like that. Claimed it worked on any outboard, lol. Anyone know the strategy? I copied it but have lost it in a computer crash. Just would be fun to try.

How To Lengthen Cable, Troll Motor To Battery
Are you talking about connecting jumper cables to the troll motor ends and then the battery, simple as that, with no mods? Other than a fuse? Why put in a fuse? I know nothing about electricity, lol. Your way sure is simple. On a related note, I found this kit at BPS -- http://www.basspro.com/Trolling-Motor-Connector-Kit-8-Gauge/product/12051808141522/?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT

Abu Garcia Orra Sx Spinning Reel
Curious, why do you say back it with braid? You mean fill most of it with that? Why braid? And curious about what type of 6-8 lb line you mean and do you mean as a leader or main line?

What Rod Would You Pair With The Pflueger 6940 Reel?
I bought a 6940 and paired it with a Berkley Lightning Rod Shock, 7' medium. I like it. Then I read on here (such as this thread) where people said the 6940 is too heavy for bass. That surprised me. This is my first spinning combo, so, what do I know. I thought 6940 would be a good choice. But I am considering buying something around the size of a 6930 and put lower lb test line on it. I have Superline on the 6940, the rod claims to be designed for it and I love the line. I like the whole combo a lot.

Abu Garcia Orra Sx Spinning Reel
So, they cast about the same, the design of the Orra really doesn't change anything? Is it just marketing hype? The President reels sure do have glowing reviews.

Diy Stocking One Pond To Another / Barbless Hook
Hmmm... do you think that adding some ice to the water will help keep them alive? Didn't think of that. But I have thought that if we do this, we should do it before the hot summer. I wish we could have done it pre-spawn. I wonder how late small bass will spawn. I had a friend say one time that he found eggs in small bass much later than you would think... I think he said on into the summer.

Creating Artificial Structure
Another thread reminded me of this -- creating artificial structure. People sink discarded Christmas trees around here for crappie. In the other thread, somebody mentioned a guy sinking gutted old appliances. I guess that means stoves, washers, dryers? I recently came across a link to pvc "trees" that you can purchase. They are not cheap but I guess if you were building a pond, what's a few more thousand bucks for a lifetime of fishing. Know anything that works?

Abu Garcia Orra Sx Spinning Reel
I have seen an Abu Garcia Orra SX reel mentioned from time to time as a good reel. I have a Pfleuger President 6940. Somebody told me that the 6940 is unnecessary, that I should try a lighter model, like a 6930 or 6935. I guess because they are lighter and plenty strong to catch bass. So, I might buy another spinning rig, I have enough BC rigs. I think I would put lighter line on it and maybe even consider it a "finesse" rig. Lighter reel, lighter rod. I fish a lot of soft plastics. What is it about the Orra SX? I have read that it has a different type of spool and bail. Does it just cast better or what?

Removing Fc Line From Bc Reel To "save"
Another thread reminded me. I bought some High Seas line and I think it was 100% FC line. I had been wanting to try FC. It coiled so bad, couldn't use it. Unbelievably, they took it back, yah! But I have a spool full of new line and I was wondering about keeping it to use for leaders. Been wanting to try that too -- FC leader tied to braid for casting soft plastics. Anyone have a tip for removing it and storing it on something? Hmmm... I have an old junk reel, that might work. I hope it still revolves, lol.

P-Line Or Hi-Seas Grand Slam?
I bought some kind of High Seas, I think it was 100% fluorocarbon. It was expensive, like $35. It was badf or soft plastics. I don't know how anyone could use it. BPS put it on for me, I guess he did it right, I know the guy, he always has. Anyone, it coiled like crazy! It was put on a high end Daiwa BC reel. BTW, it worked fine on throwing a heavy bullet type lure.

Diy Stocking One Pond To Another / Barbless Hook
I have a friend who owns several ponds, including one new one that intrigues me because it was dug to make way for a highway and it's 25' deep in places, which is deep around here. He has put some bluegill and crappie in there from ones he caught in his other ponds. I want to help him do the same for bass; he will let me fish his ponds. Anyone have any tips on this? What about making a live well, anyone done that? If I make one, it has to be small because I would be fishing out of a pond jumper (similar to Pelican Bass Raider). I wonder if I could do well putting them in a ice chest and just stick a bubbler aerator in there. This boat is 22" wide at bass where my feet are, I could probably find a smaller ice chest to fit and get a few bass at a time. Then, I'd have to take them in my truck about a mile away to the new pond. Any tips on keeping bass alive for this? Another thing I thought I'd try is, we like to fish a fluke there and I was thinking of crimping down the barb on the hook to minimize potential damage to the bass. Yesterday, in one of his ponds, the bass were swallowing the fluke like crazy and we ended up keeping five bass to eat, letting the others go. Had a good afternoon, caught about 30 total. But there were a couple of those five that even though the hook went down into the good, hooking inside the stomach, I don't know how but I somehow got the hook out. I wonder if a bass could survive that. We didn't chance it, we harvested those. Anyway, it would be less damage if there is no barb. Just crimp the barb down with pliers until I can find some barbless hooks? Sidenote... anyone who has fished a barbless hook, do you lose a lot of fish, just curious? I mean, they shake it off and get away and you never boat them.

How To Lengthen Cable, Troll Motor To Battery
I have a Minn Kota Endura 50 lb thrust. Just bought a used 8' pond jumper boat and put troll motor up front and pull the boat with troll motor. But the cable is not but about 4' long and I need to move the battery to the back of the boat when fishing alone to balance it out. How do I modify this to make a longer cable?

Pond Fishing
Currently my favorite bait is a Zoom Super Fluke. Favorite color is watermelon red. I caught 20 bass today, buddy caught 10, all on fluke on two ponds. I throw it at cover and let it sink, watching the line. I twitch it one sometimes, sometimes twice is succession and reel and let it sink again. Most of the way back to the boat. Cast, repeat. The fluke to me is the best looking action I've ever seen, it is just sensational. A slow fall and it's erratic, upon sink after a cast of twitch, it might go left or right and up or down. Glides awesome. I have been using them with no weight, just a hook rigged weedless. I set the hook hard to drive the hook out of the plastic into the bass' mouth. On one pond today, they were ultra hungry and a few swallowed the bait and we kept five because they were gut hooked. On the other pond, they were all caught in the side or top of mouth. I don't get it, lol. All of the fish were nice keepers, say 1.5 lbs and I caught one 5 pounder. Watch your line and often you will see the fish swimming with it. I have also caught crappie and bream on the 5" fluke.

Grass Carp
I was fishing today and saw something I have never seen before. It looked like a whale was under the water, lol, a huge bubble of air came up. Maybe 5' deep water. I have only two thoughts on this... an alligator or grass carp. We did have an alligator in this lake but I think they trapped him. Do grass carp do this, release air? Do alligators? I saw a couple of grass carp within a couple hundred yards of that spot where the air came up. The city put them in this small lake many years ago and those things are big, 15-20 lbs. Will they bite a lure or bait? Of course, I would release them. Anyone know how many acres to each grass carp are recommended?

Rubber Boots!
Wow, I absolutely love this concept, with the wader option... awesome! If I can only find some. I'll just have to spend the money. Probably have them the rest of my life, lol.

Rubber Boots!
I was fired up till I saw the price. Yikes. EDIT: Never mind, lol, I see now that all of these type boots are expensive. Problem is, finding anything recommended in this thread!

Rubber Boots!
Anyone got any recommendation for rubber boots that you like? For fishing farm ponds with heavy grass and briars around them. Also for launching boat off in colder weather. Seems I too often must step in the water. I have even considered hip boots but would want something decently comfortable.

Buying My First Boat
I got my Tracker with 40hp, fully rigged bass boat, 1997, for $3500 and had been taken care of, not many hours really. It looks terrific, the seats look brand new (but are not). Runs great. I also talked with a guy yesterday who has one with a 60hp and it's $3,500. Sounds like a good deal, he has a lot of gear with it and reworked a lot of it. Deals can be found. I bought a fully rigged glass boat two years ago for $5k, 90hp engine. I saw a 2 year old 15hp motor on craigslist for $1,250. I'd offer $1,000. Then you could buy a used jon boat and trailer, used troll motor, buy a battery. It would fit your budget. Take your time, that is the key.

Unique Bass Boat Brands...
That Riverpro is really cool! I love this topic, I hope it keeps going. As for Fusion boats, I can't imagine a company not having a website. XPS bass boats comes to mind for me, they supposedly have some kind of lifting hull that is very efficient, provides higher speed. As for me, I have a bass boat (no big deal, 1997 Tracker with 40hp but it works fine) and also a jon boat with 5hp motor and troll motor and am looking into getting a pond jumper. After spending countless hours looking at all the pond jumpers made today and in the past, I stumbled upon this -- http://freedomelectricmarine.com/. I have been daydreaming about building the ultimate pond jumper type boat and I'll be danged if this guy hasn't done it. Twin troll motors in the hull, it's very unique and very well-designed. Seems to me he has done it right. Not cheap, but it sure looks interesting!
