  1. Nick thank you for your response.I work real hard on trying to be versatile.I push myself like you do to try to perfect a lure, technique,or finese fishing. My problem is that by the time I learn one lure and several different ways to fish it.I get rusty on the things that I really like doing or that I have already mastered. It doesnt take long to get back to my old ways but I cant stand to be rusty with those lures and techniques when I pick them back up.
  2. Most professional tournament anglers fish their strengths. For instance Denny Brauer and Tommy Martin fish jigs the MAJORITY of the time.David Fritts and Rick Clunn fish crankbaits the MAJORITY of the time.My strengths are a spinnerbait,Texas rig,and topwaters.I try to learn to fish a jig, tube, and a rattle trap but these lures are less productive for me.Is being versatile worth the time and money?Or should we just fish our strengths?I have alot of tackle that I dont use.
  3. My favorite is a spinnerbait. But my number#1 fish catcher would have to be a texas rigged crawfish.
  4. It should count. If you go to basssmaster.com right now they have a story called growing big bass in small ponds. This topic is fun and is getting old though.Let me just say that I live in Texas but I think if the record is caught in California it should count.Just my personal opinion is that the best genetics do come from Florida. The Florida strain bass is the bass that everyone wants in their state. That I know of the Florida strain bass is the largest. No matter which state the new world record comes from it should count. But Florida will always get credit because thats where the really big bass came from origanlly.Except for that monster caught in Georgia.
  5. A bass is a predator! So theres always a chance to catch a bass fishing your lures fast. Its a reaction strike sometimes a bass reacts before he thinks even if hes not hungry. Its their nature.
  6. First off I cant see how many of you say its not natural habitat. If its a bass and its in a lake its natural. It might not be fair for the world record to be beat that way.But nothing is totally fair in life.I think no matter what it should count because regardless of where its caught or what its been eating it is hard to catch a fish that big.The only thing that I think is not fair is that I will never get a chance to go to FLORIDA or CALIFORNIA to catch one of these monsters.
  7. I carry three to four rods and reels when I go in my boat I always have some sort of soft plastic tied on and something that I can get a reaction strike on also.Fish the soft plastic bait slow then find a bait that you can fish fast and have confidence in.The fast lure will sometimes make a fish strike even if he doesnt want too.BASS ARE PREDATORS!!!!!!!!!
  8. I would have to go with a charteuse and white spinnerbait, a wacky worm, and a texas rigged crawfish.
  9. Every lake that i fish has either wood cover or vegetation. And I normally dont fish in more than fifteen foot of water unless im catfishing.I just got permission to fish an old gravel pit that is 20 to 50 foot deep and has no vegetation and just a few trees.I've never fished anywhere like that before so any info from you deep water fisherman would be appreciated.I almost forgot but the water is very clear you can see down 6to7 feet.
  10. I have caught them on wacky worms, crankbaits, and plastic crawfish. The only reason I keep trying to catch them on spinnerbaits is because when I go to other places that I fish a spinnerbait is something that I catch them on when I cant catch them on anything else.It is the type of lure that I enjoy using the most. And that I am the best st fihing with.I was just wondering If anyone else has ever come across this.I need to put the spinnerbait away and improve on jig fishing that is the lure that I have not matered yet.
  11. Im in southeast Texas and when I first started H&H spinnerbaits produced for me also.I've gotten away from them also.I have tryed a rooster tail with no luck.Thank you Fisher of Men I will try a h&h and let you know what happens
  12. I've tried every color, size, and blade combination. I have a spinnerbait pouch that I take with me I have differnt color skirts diferent color blades and different sizes.I've tried an 1/8 oz and still didnt catch anything. On a beetle spin you only catch perch. Its a privately owned lake and everyone else catches them on wacky worms. Everyone else has given up on spinnerbaits. I keep trying them because the fish are there but will not eat one.And I dont know why.The water is stained you can see down about 2 feet.I'ver even tried flipping and pitching a spinnerbait to have a really quite presentation.
  13. Thats the question.A spinnerbait is my go to lure it works for me everywhere i go except for one place and I cannot figure out why. There are plenty of bait fish and crawfish on this small lake. The fish are eay to catch on plastics and crankbaits but i've never caught one on a spinnerbait here. and the spinnerbait is my strength everywhere else.Whats up with this?
