  1. Yeah ive already checked with the owners and they said i can fish for them as long as i release them.
  2. Oh yeah also should i try to sight fish or just pick a spot and go with it?
  3. Ok will this work for catching it: I have a medium action rod with a strong spinning reel and 15lb mono. I will need a weight or two to get it out there although i know weightless is best. I will chum corn and then throw a circle hook with corn. Any suggestions?
  4. Ok so was fishing on a side of my neighborhood pond that i normally dont go to. I was fishing when at about 40 feet out i saw something poke out of the water. I thought it was just a turtle since i see them all the time. But on a closer look i saw what was a fin and not a turtle! It kept poking up in different spots of the area and some times i would see silvery scales! At this point i knew it was a fish! Recently they stocked grass carp in with the bass and bluegill to control the weeds. So i am very conviced it was a grass carp feeding, it was even shaped like a grass carp. However they shouldnt be that big being stocked in recently, but i have heard that they are stocked in at a decent size so the bass dont eat them. This seems possible as it was about 20 inches long. So my question is was that a grass carp and how can i catch it?
  5. I'm more of a bass fisherman but lately I've been more into saltwater fishing and I've been trying to find a really good spot along the Indian River. I live in volusia county so mosquito lagoon is a bit of a drive for me so I am looking for good spots closer to home. I don't have a kayak or a boat so I'm stuck on shore. At the moment my favorite spot is the kennedy memorial park in Edgewater on Riverside dr. So I would like to know about any good spots particularly in Edgewater or New Smyrna.
  6. Almost exactly like that but smaller.
  7. I think it was a tripletail...
  8. It's the Indian River Lagoon. A river system here in Florida.
  9. Ok so this happened a long time ago in summer last year. I was fishing in the Indian River and pulled up what looked like a little black crappie. I have never caught a crappie so I can't clarify that it actually was a crappie but it looked like one with similar fins, coloring, and body shape. It was about 4-5 inches long. I don't have a picture of it so I can't show you but it looked exactly like a crappie! I caught it on frozen shrimp. So I was wondering is there anything else it could have been and how has it survived there? I have read they can tolerate salt but seriously?!? Someone must've released some in there...
  10. Haha I know that's why I was confused. Thanks for clearing that up.
  11. Thanks! I've heard it was good for flounder but apparently other fish too! I'll definitely give it a try.
  12. Rock bass are freshwater and cold water how are they in the irl??? Unless there is a different rock bass I don't know about.
  13. Thanks! What lures do you use? I've heard a Johnson Spoon catches a lot of different fish.
  14. Ok so at my little pond in the winter months I kept seeing schools of 15+ largemouth bass all the same size swimming around the lake. (I live in florida so the water doesn't freeze) I tried to get one to bite my hook but they all just ignored it and swam on. Now when I go fishing I sometimes see bass in groups of 3 or 4 around the bank. Sometimes I get them to take my lure but I'm still confused why they are gathered up like this. Is it because it's spawning season? I thought they spawned further out anyways...
  15. Thanks guy you're making me hungry!
  16. Hi I fish along the Indian River in Florida and all I can catch are pinfish and the occasional flounder. I use frozen shrimp for bait with a couple sinkers. I don't have much experience saltwater fishing since I mostly go bass fishing. The only other fish besides pinfish and flounder I've caught is a Sheepshead. I really want to catch snook and redfish. Am I using the wrong bait? I did try going with a popper and a bucktail jig once but I got nothing. So I want to know how and where to catch game fish like redfish, snook, snapper, etc. Oh and also I fish near a dock since I don't have a boat.
  17. Ok so I have a nice spot along the Indian River in Florida and I was wondering what fish are the best for eating and what are the seasons for them. I've heard good things about Flounder, Sheepshead, and Snapper but I want to know if there are any other good tasting fish out there and their bag limits.
  18. They spray pesticides around the lake so I'd rather not eat anything out of there. But you could be right about they overpopulation of small bass.
  19. First you have to locate the bass. Most of the time they are actually hiding in weeds near the bank. If you don't have weeds you need to look for other oxygen sources such as spillways, fountains, etc. Then you have to throw the right lure. Bass change everyday, one day they may bite on a jig and take a Crankbait the next day. Just keep casting out there where you think they are and change up your retrieve every time. Maybe fast and then slow, or try at a moderate speed. Eventually you will find what they like and get what you deserve. You just have to figure them out and reel them in! Hope I helped
  20. Wow thanks guys. I guess I just need to pay attention to where I catch the bigger ones and try to fish there until I find what works
  21. Ok so I have a little pond in my neighborhood that I like to fish in and it has a lot of Largemouth Bass! I've caught hundreds of bass here and have a lot of experience but the problem is the average size is a mere 12 inches. However one day I did get a monster 24 incher but that is the only big one I've ever got there. They are normally 10-16 inches and that 24 incher was the only one I've caught there over 16 inches. I know they are in there but I keep getting the smaller ones. Should I try using a bigger lure or what? At the moment my lure is 2 1/2 inches which I think is small but I caught my 24 incher on a 1 1/2 inch jig! So what is the problem?
  22. Lol probably so. I've heard they are cold water fish but they can be in the same water largemouth are in. But trout are also cold water and there are no trout down here so that is probably the answer. Thanks guys!
  23. Most people I've heard this from don't exactly seem like experts. So you are probably right. But the thing is the people who say this own the houses on the lake and they are probably informed what is stocked there by the people who stock it themselves.
  24. Thanks! And no I haven't spotted any yet. I do see little fish by the bank but I'm pretty sure they are bluegill because I can see the little black stripes they have. Do you think they'll be in deeper water or in the shallows?
