Well. I have been wanting to get a portable finder for my bass hunter for a while and cabelas finally had a sale on the Lowrance Elite 3x all season. Got it mounted and fished with it yesterday. Nice finder and a great little package. I just removed the swivel mount from the portable case and screwed it down to the flat spot in the front of the boat. Holds very very well. Mounted transducer on trolling motor. and just set battery by finder. Wont use the portable bag set up till ice fishing. All in all its a great little set up. Its actually set up for transom mount from the factory. I used it a long time on the bow without changing it. Designed to be used on the transom and then the foot pedal goes in front of you. That's why if you read the reviews people complain the pedal cable isn't long enough. If you pull the cover off and adjust it you get a little better control out of it. Not hard at all. Takes about 10 or 15 minutes.

Just found this thread and read all pages.... Took a while lol. I have a original bass hunter. My parents got it for me in 1998 for a graduation/eagle scout rank gift. I love this boat. Stored outside since 98 in crappy IL winter and have not had a single issue with it. I have seen a few times people asking about the motorguide Bulldog trolling motor. I bought one the week they were released and absolutely love it. It is a transom mount but I ran it on bow for a long time without issues. Then I found info online about how to mod it for bow mount and it works even better. Great little tm for these pond hoppers.

I use the Berkley digital fish scale. Think it was $20 at walmart. Accurate and so far it has not broken.

I still catch a ton of bass on a Weed Walker. Can't remember the last time I saw one for sale in a store.

Very skeptical about them and bit the bullet and ordered one last hunting season. They absolutely work. I forgot it one time last year while deer hunting and actually turned around to go home and get it. Fire it up and give it a few minutes to work and then fish/hunt in comfort. I have since bought another for camping.
