Critique Light Lure Spinning Setup.
I picked up a 2 piece ugly stick gx2 medium 7ft. Im gonna test it out with, 6lb mono to see which casts a 1/8oz lure farther. Which one should i keep? My number 1 thing is to cast, 1/8 lure as far as possible. If i keep the ugly stick and want to go trout fishing will i be able to?

Critique Light Lure Spinning Setup.
Well i will be using it for panfish and maybe small bass. My concern is casting light lures far. Do u think a 6'6 medium fast ugly stick will cast further? I need to be able to pick up this rod from walmart or dicks because i dont have any other stores around me and i dont want to order online

Critique Light Lure Spinning Setup.
i have a Penn Fierce frc2000 Spinning Reel and i bought a 2pc 6'6 Okuma Celilo UltraLight Trout Spinning Rod - Model:CE-S-662UL-1(rated 1/32 oz to 3/16oz) I have a baitcaster for anything heavier than a 1/4oz Im using this setup to catch small pan fish and smaller bass. who knows maybe one day trout, but not at this moment. I want to be able to cast lures 1/4oz and under and i primarily will be casting lures around 1/8oz. What do you think of this setup ? what rod would maximize my casting distance with a 1/8 oz without breaking the bank (50 and under maybe?) Also what line do you recommend ? Keep in mind the frc2000 reel is not returnable at this point so im stuck with it but i could return the rod. any help would be appreciated.

Trouble Casting Far With New Baitcaster
When i put a 1 oz sinker on my setup i could easily throw it 30 yards but the lures i use are between 3/8 oz and maybe half oz at most and not as aerodynamic.

Trouble Casting Far With New Baitcaster
Im overall very happy with the black max reel, i feel comfortable with it and it casts and feels fine but watching some youtube videos it seems people cast at least 10 yards more than me and i was concerned if i made the right choice to use the black max as my beginner reel or if i should have paid more for something like lews.

Trouble Casting Far With New Baitcaster
Ok so i bought a 7ft berkley lighting shock rod and a abu garcia black max. I cast about 25 yards which i thought was on the short side. One of the reviewers of the reel i bought stated he got 45 yards distance when he set the tension knob really low and set the magnet breaks to max. So i tried that and while i could cast fine with no issues i only got an extra yard or two. I tried reel magic to help but i feel like it didnt do much. The only thing i haven't done is messed with the bearings, i just dont know what im doing when it comes to that. Is 25 yards acceptable distance? Is there anything else i haven't tried?

Did I Buy The Right Pop-R?
From what i understood yo zuri hybrid is mono coated with florocarbon, so it floats. Everyone i asked sais it floats.

Did I Buy The Right Pop-R?
Hello, i use a 7ft baitcaster and have 12lb yo zuri hybrid line on it. I was looking yesterday at the rebel pop-r's and i wasn't sure which one to buy. I ended up buying the rebel pop-r magnum which weighs 1/2 oz. They also had the regular size which is 1/8oz i believe but I thought id have a hard time casting it. Did i make the right choice? Is the magnum too large for most bass?

Frog Vs Popper
I see people on here talking about when they use frogs that braid is a must. Then i see people talking about using poppers but mono is the best for it. to me the popper is the same thing as the frog , they just look different. it kinda seems like you're popping both. Can someone explain to me the difference ?

Bait Casters?
very interesting, I just could not get using to cranking with my right hand, it feels completely unnatural. it also just doesn't make sense to have to switch hands, its almost like going out of my way to make things more complicated lol But i understand not everyone feels the same and to each their own.

Bait Casters?
I was in this predicament recently and i decided to buy a 7ft berkley lighting shock medium heavy casting rod with a left handed abu garcia black max reel. you can pick both of those up at walmart for 40 bucks each, $80 total. Both items have such high reviews you cant go wrong with them, though it is by no means top of the line but more like bang for your buck as both perform like a much more expensive rod and reel. The only negative ive heard about the black max reels is they wear out after a few years of use, but at 40 bucks you can just buy new one or by then if you have stuck with using a baitcaster you probably will have moved on to something more high end. I dont know how much you know about baitcasters but if you're a righty you throw the rod with your right then switch hands to reel in with your right. I would never used a baitcaster if i could not buy a left handed version, so no switching hands for me. i throw the rod with my right hand and reel in with my left hand just like i would with a spinning reel. I started with regular cheap 3 dollar Zebco Omniflex Mono 15lb in the beginning and it was super easy to cast. Ive since moved on to yo zuri 12lb hybrid, which is another bang for your buck fishing line. i kinda miss the 15lb mono sometimes and it felt easier to deal with but the yo zuri hybrid line is touch as nails.

What Kind Of Bass Is This ?
I caught this little guy today with a spinnerbait. Is this a large mouth bass ? does it look kind of malnourished ? He was released back unharmed.

Please Help Me Pick A Baitcaster.
Guys, i was wondering, would i be sacrificing too much going with the same rod that i have, only in 6'6 ? 7ft is really tall and while i have no problems when im outside, getting it in the car and the house is a pain in the ass. I think my ceiling is only like 8ft in my house so you can imagine its really close. also one of the youtubers i watch uses 14 lb sunline sniper fluoro. is there a cheaper equivalent that i can learn on ?

Please Help Me Pick A Baitcaster.
I bought a Berkley 7' Lightning Shock Medium/Heavy Casting Rod and i ordered a abu garcia black max reel. In the end, i wanted to buy something cheaper cause i dont know if ill stick with it but wanted something decent to learn on. Both items have very high reviews. hopefully walmart has the left hand version like they say they do, even though i have a funny feeling when i show up tomorrow they will have the right hand version waiting for me. I dont even plan on going fishing yet, im just gonna practice in the backyard. Any suggestions on what line and lure to practice with ?

Please Help Me Pick A Baitcaster.
First and foremost im not an expert at fishing, no where near. Ive only used a spinning reels in the past but Im looking to buy my first baitcaster. The reason I want to switch is im bored with the spinning reel and im also having issues casting as far as i'd like. I want to fish for bass and pickeral and anything else i can catch with that kind of setup. I want to be able to cast fairly far and with accuracy. I also would prefer using topwater baits mostly and maybe senko worms. I went to dicks sporting goods and tried out a few rods and I decided I would like to buy a Left handed baitcaster. I am not interested in a standard baitcaster, the learning curve would be too much. I dont feel comfortable reeling with my right hand or switching hands after i cast. My budget is around $80-$100 I was thinking of buying a Abu Garcia Left Hand Retrieve Black Max Low Profile Baitcast Reel (12-Pound/145-Yard) http://www.amazon.com/Abu-Garcia-Retrieve-Baitcast-12-Pound/dp/B005OU19GK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1431826376&sr=8-1&keywords=abu+garcia+reel+left I haven't decided on what casting rod yet or what size and i was hoping you guys could point me in the right direction. I was thinking 6.6 Medium-Heavy. Would a Ugly Stik GX2 Casting Rod be an option ? How do you guys feel about rods that come in two pieces ? I drive a honda civic and it might be a problem transporting anything too big. Could you guys please list specific rod brands and models ? Is there a better option thats within my budget that i should consider ? Also i read this article on how to get started and practice in my backyard. http://www.bassmaster.com/blog/baitcasting-made-easy# Basically it sais i should get a 6-6 or 6-10 medium heavy rod and use 17-pound monofilament, adjust the centrifugal brakes and set the brake to zero and tie on a 3/8-ounce chartreuse spinnerbait How does that sound starting out ?
