  1. hey road warior, i know theres some hardcore shimano fans but i dont see myself getting anything other than lews , dawai tatula or thirteen co.n.cept. A
  2. I believe its this one http://www.lews.com/casting-teamlewslite.php
  3. I hear good things about the tatula. The same friend who gave me the rods who is very knowledgeable, literally has just about every baitcaster reel made since the 80's told me nothing beats the lews team lite and its so light it would go well with the bucoo. I think the pro g is similar only a little cheaper but heavier.
  4. I have a few rods and my friend just gave me another 2, so im itching to buy another reel. I have a abu garcia black max paired with a lighting shock rod 7ft mh with 50lb braid i was gonna use for froggin. I have a lews tournament pro with 7ft veritas medium action, 14lb sufix siege. I intend to use this with soft plastics, senkos etc. Then i have a 7ft mh falcom bucoo micro guide and no reel. Then i have a 7.3 powell inferno mh no reel What am i trying to accomplish with the last two rods? Have no idea. I thought you guys could point me in a direction to where i have different setups for other things like a crankbait rod or whatever based on what i have. If you had the rods that i own and were given those two last rods i mentioned, what would you put on them as far as reels and line goes? One other thing, i probably would only consider buying a lews reel, a dawai tatula with t wing or a *** a. Right now im looking at the lews tournament pro g for the bucoo but im second guessing my self wondering if the setup will be to similar to the veritas combo i already have. Help me bassresource bros, im a little inexperienced and overwhelmed.
  5. I think its the fierce 2000. Its okay im not that crazy about it but i got a good deal on it from Walmart. The celilo on the other hand was a pleasant surprise and only 35 bucks
  6. Hello, Currently i have a 6'6 okuma celilo and penn fierce spinning reel for Ultralight fishing. I have 6lb mono on it which works fine, not the best casting distance but i like the extra strength. I finally warmed up to the idea of tying on a leader, previously i didn't want it passing through my guides and i still wont do it on my baitcaster but the celilo is cheap enough i can always replace it easily. I know most people say knots passing thru the guides is no problem but im super picky about taking care of my equipment. So what diameter braid should i get, 10?15?.also what kind and size leader?
  7. I appreciate your input anyway. The disclosure and everything This verita just feels right in my hand in comparison to the limited variety i got to try.
  8. Thank you so much guys, you have no idea how much i appreciate your input.
  9. I have a lews tournament pro that i have been dying to buy a new rod for. I went to dicks and tried out a few rods and i decided on the veritas 2.0 7ft but i was torn between the medium and medium heavy. The Medium heavy is more versatile but i tend to throw lighter baits like soft plastics like weighless senkos or yum dingers. i usually throw anything between 1/4oz and and half an ounce, i dont even own that many lures that are heavier than that. anything lighter than 1/4oz i usually throw on my spinning gear When i tried out the two , the medium just felt better, lighter and has more of a bend to it. i put the lew reel on it and tied a plug and cast in my backyard and it definitely felt right. I just couldn't help wondering if i made a mistake not getting the more versatile rod. The veritas didnt really feel like a regular medium, it feels a little stiffer and the medium heavy felt more on the heavy side. I also have a black max reel and MH lighting shock rod for frogging and maybe some deep crankbaits or heavy cover Also my friend has a Falcon Bucoo rod 7ft medium heavy that hes not using and will be giving to me soon, so that will be another medium heavy rod for heavy cover and some other applications. If i mostly throw soft plastics, occasional crankbaits and 3/8oz spinnerbaits, did i make the right choice with veritas medium action ?
  10. Too late now lol the pro g doesn't have dual breaks though but who knows, maybe the future reels wont need them. i also like the way the older pro looks. The older model is also more proven as far as durability. They actually cost the same on amazon
  11. Im not a expert by any means but i enjoy using the lighting shock, but then again maybe i dont know any better. the lighting shock is only 40 bucks from walmart, its by no means top of the line, its a bang for your buck rod. A lot of people that own higher end equipment say that its as good as some 80 dollar rods. I actually followed the recommendations of some of the users on here when i bought it. either way, im looking for a new rod for the lews reel, so i'll take that into consideration. Maybe when im in PA ill drop by cabelas and try it. thanks for helping me out, i pulled the trigger on the tournament pro older model.
  12. Im getting mine through amazon since i have a 50 dollar gift card, its only 10 dollars more on amazon than ebay. im looking at the 6.4.1. Im gonna pair it with a 7ft lighting shock rod till i have the money to buy something better. I also have a 7.6 Abu-Garcia Veritas Series Winch Model medium heavy that a friend gave me, im thinking of putting a black max reel on that and using it as a crankbait rod.
  13. I narrowed it down to these two reels as far as what im going to get. I know the Tournament pro G is kind of like the new model if the tournament pro but there about the same price. Is the newer one better. For an all around reel which one would you buy?
  14. Im doing research on each lews reel that i like, and im making a list with pricing and features but im gonna need help picking one that suits my needs. When i have my list ready, would it be okay to private message you ?
  15. the problem i have with the Tournament MB is the gear ratio, they dont have 6.4.1 at all and they only have 6.8.1 in right hand version. I need a left handed version
  16. Are we talking about ebay ? sorry im still new around here
  17. what do you guys think of this one http://www.lews.com/casting-bb1.php ?
  18. So i went fishing with a friend who was nice enough to let me try out his rod and reel combo. The rod was great but what seriously impressed me was the reel he was using. It was a Lew's BB-1 Pro Series Speed Spool Casting Reel. It cast smooth as butter, i even loved the sound it made when it cast and all it was using was mono. It was a big step up from my abu garcia black max. Now im not quite sure if im willing to drop 214 for the Lew's BB-1 Pro Series Speed Spool Casting Reel but i was looking at the slightly cheaper options. I asked my friend if the less expensive versions of lews cast as well and he said yes. Which left handed lews reel do you recommend for bass fishing, preferably 6.4.1 that wont break the bank ? maybe a budget of 150 or less ?
  19. Thanks guys, i appreciate all the help.
  20. I have a 6'6ft okuma celilo ultra light rod paired with a penn fierce 2000 reel. I use it for bass and pan fish. I love the setup, its ultra sensitive and ive reeled in up to a 4pounders no problem. The problem i do have is sometimes i make mistakes and throw my lures into trees or they get snagged on the bottom of a lake/pond. Ive lost some good lures to snags and its starting to hurt my pocket! lol I was thinking about moving to braid , but im worried about the no stretch and potentially ripping hooks out of fish's mouths. Is there any fishing line that will give me more dragging power, so i can pull out the lures from snags ?
  21. I knew the place i fished had a pollution problem. it was bound brook stream in piscataway NJ. I have another question. Could me fishing and getting a little water on my hands while i catch and release the fish have an adverse reaction on my health
  22. Look on the fins , it looks like it has like a small tumor or something.
  23. I went to somertset county, to the north branch of a raritan to try and catch some small mouth bass. Everywhere i went the water was so shallow, i could barely throw a spinner. These are the GPS coordinates that i went to. 40.592918, -74.676855 40.600308, -74.674684 40.634528, -74.686597 Was a pretty miserable experience lol Can anyone help me out with a decent location where to the water is a little bit deeper to be able to at least throw a few spinners or senkos. If you have GPS coordinates or exact address i would be eternally grateful.
