Opinions On What Spinning Reel Size For Best Balance
Can you message me and let me know how you like it and whether YOU feel it is a match?

Revo Mgx
Except if you mess it up you're out 300 dollars instead of 75. :-)

How much does a cleaning typically cost?

Revo Mgx
I guess it is issue free.

Revo Mgx
Has anyone that has a Revo MGX had any issues with it yet? This is my first year using the MGX and I'm pretty impressed. I've never stripped the reel down and did a thorough cleaning, is it difficult to take apart? I've seen youtube videos on disassembly, but seeing how to take something apart from a professional is much different than trying it yourself.

Kayak Fishing In The Wind
I will probably get the Predator MX next spring. I will collect my thoughts with some of the suggested ideas and see what will work best for me. I will definitely keep the stake out poles and anchor trolleys in mind.

Kayak Fishing In The Wind
It definitely makes sense. I don't know how trolling would work at this point. The water temp is around 50 degrees here, so I guess that's it for me this year.

Kayak Fishing In The Wind
Thanks! I'll take a look. I am in a sit in kayak and it just seems to make everything more difficult

Kayak Fishing In The Wind
I've never used the anchor trolley but I've anchored off the bow and stern of the kayak an the kayak still sways a lot. What type of kayak do you have? I'm wondering if I new yak+ anchor trolley would help?

Kayak Fishing In The Wind
I am a trout fisherman turned bass fisherman. I would always fish noodle rods and fly rods for trout, pan fish, and steel head. I've done very well. Until about a few years ago I started to target bass, I liked the short fights and the greater challenge of keeping the fish from spitting the hook. As I try to apply all the knowledge that I gain from past experiences and other peoples advice, I believe the reason I struggle above all else is my kayak. The darn thing weighs about 45-50 lbs max. Its a perception sport "fishing" kayak. By fishing, I mean the company molded 2 rod holders and marketed it as a fishing kayak. I tried to battle 12 mph winds with 15+ gusts today- didn't work out as I planned. Whenever I mark a point or hump or anything I toss out a marker buoy. By the time I make a long cast past the structure, my kayak is already 90 degrees and a dozen+ yards down wind/stream. I just cant efficiently cover water in the wind. This all being said, I have tried a Predator MX Kayak ONE TIME. It seemed very stable, but there wasn't much wind during the test. Does anyone have a PREDATOR MX, PREDATOR 13, or similar style yak and give me some feedback on how the boat performs in the wind, moving water, lakes etc? I typically fish smaller lakes < 100 ACRES. Thanks, Steve

Revo Sx
I attempted to cast the other day with my SX and snagged one of my other rods on my kayak...what a mess

Shut Out
Got shut out again today. Used a lipless and caught 3 descent rAinbows in 19 feet of water. I tried lipless cranks, spinnerbaits, worms and plastics flipping and drop shot. Still no bass. The water is extremely murky, maybe fall turnover?

Shut Out
I forgot to mention I used a 6th sense lipless without rattles. I'll see if I have any luck with rattles. Although I probably won't fish this lake again this year.

Weekend Fishing Trip
I go to this lake which is right near my camp where I fish from shore. I never seem to have much luck there, except in the spring. There was a cold front on friday, and I fished the lake saturday and sunday from sunrise til about 10 am. The water surface temp was about 60-61 degrees on saturday, and about 59-60 degrees on sunday ( today.) The water was murky, about a foot of visibility. Sunny skies both days and I fished my spring spots. I fished 0-10ft of water: t-rigged biospawn, craw- dragged and popped various cranks : CRR5, DT6, squarebill, wakebait; steady, stop n go, twitched spinnerbait- with fire tiger skirt, slow rolled and waked I didn't have the luxury to fish the afternoon, but today before leaving, i saw 1 bass on the surface, and many bluegills near the surface underneath individual leaves that have fallen. Which takes me to the next struggle. There is almost NO visible cover, there are cattails in 1-4 feet of water with a mud bottom. Almost the entire lake's shore is muddy. The best spot in the spring where they spawn is on the NE section in 1-3 feet of water and it is substrate at best. What would you suggest I do? Was it too early in the day for fall time? Was this due to the cold front? I thought the front would've helped out in the fall.

6Th Sense Crankbaits
The lipless crank that was in the September mtb is phenomenal.

Revo Sx
The revo sx is not forgiving with light baits, cranks etc. You have to do more fine tuning after you adjust the brakes for the specific lure. I've found that anything 1/4 oz and under is hard to cast. If you adjust the brakes too much, they don't cast far, and if you try to whip the bait out it bird ynests. This is all using 12 lb p line copolymer on a cranking rod.

Public Vs. Private Lakes
One thing I've noticed about private water bass, is that they only will eat name brand lures. Give them an off brand tube and they will turn up their noses.

Braid And Flouro
Thanks! I always use power pro, I've only used spider wire and fire line and power pro has been the best so far. I will try 50 lb. I didn't even think about it digging into the spool while flipping! Thanks again!

Braid And Flouro
I need some recommendations on braided line. I will be getting my new Dobyns Champ 705 mag heavy and I'm pairing it with a revo MGX reel. It currently has 30 lb braid on it. My question is if I tie a leader on 70+ percent of the time, does it matter if I upsize my braid? I usually use no greater than a 17 lb flouro leader, so my line would only be as strong as the leader correct? Now, I also plan on doing some flipping and pitching with this rod, in this case, what size braid would you recommend? Thanks.

Best Rod Under 220
Thanks for all of the help! I decided on a Dobyns champion 705c. I will add all the other rods mentioned on my future wish list for other projects. My wife currently placed me on the "Don't need a another rod list" Next Spring I will have a compelling story as to why I "need" another rod. Thanks again!

Ok. I am leaning more towards a 705 now. I will wait for a bit more input. What pound braid would you recommend? I have 30 lb power pro spooled on my Mgx right now.
