My friend and recently built up a 14' jon boat with a deck, 7.5hp, and a trolling motor up front to be able to get out onto the little bit bigger waters. We were wondering if there were any tournaments or clubs around us in Western Massachusetts that we could fishing in or join that are for jon boats or allow jon boats.

I would like to know what rod length,power, and action to get for my reels to be able to to cover crankbaits, soft plastics, worms , Texas rigs, spinnerbaits,jigs, swim jigs, top water, frogs, and jerkbaits. Between all my setups. My reels: 1. Shimano Sahara 3000- Fenwick HMG 7' MH- Soft plastics, t rigs, jigs? 2. Shimano Sahara 3000- Rod?- Lure? 3. Pfluegar Presidential- Medium Mod- Crankbaits and others? 4. Abu Garcia 6.8.1- 6'9" MH- Lure? 5. Lews Speed Spool LFS 7.5.1- Rod?- Lure?

I have fished a lot of small ponds and lakes near me and I want to try something new. Does anyone know of any lakes or ponds about 45 minutes away from western mass? Also I would be fishing from a kayak. Thanks.

I am going to start using my fathers 10' Jon Boat. Any recomendations of what size motor to buy? I was thinking about a 4 HP motor. Also what size body of water do you think this boat can handle. I want to start fishing Candlewood Lake, do you think this boat could handle it? It would be my friend and I fishing in it. We weigh about 280-290 lbs between the two of us. Also thinking about putting a 47 pound thrust trolling motor on the front. Thanks, Jeremy
