  1. well i actually took the rod and reel out saturday night! and in between a few overruns i was actually able to land 2 decent sized bass! the night was really slow overall and very quiet. usually there are a ton of frogs going off and it was just too quiet and i knew it was going to be one of those nights. im going to keep at it.
  2. I practiced a bunch last night and things started coming together better for me. i know most of what i read says work on accuracy and then work on distance. after thinking hard about it i feel it should be opposite. i feel you should work on distance a little at a time (to a point, maybe 30yds max), and not getting an overrun or birdsnest and then start dialing in your accuracy. what good is it if i can only cast 10-12'? so thats what i was doing and i got out to about 20-25yds with out any overruns or birds nests. i feel good about it.
  3. I bought a new lews baitcaster. and im learning it. never used a baitcaster before. its not coming as easy as i initially pictured in my head. at 1st i tried some 20lb braid and kept getting overruns. i now have some 50lb kastking braid and the over runs seemed to have disappeared for the most part. but my distance sucks and my accuracy is not great either. i seem to be better side arm than over head. i wanted to take this thing fishing this weekend but i dont think its gonna happen. i fish mostly at night and i dont trust myself yet. how long did it take you to master the baitcaster?
  4. i have done really well with gotcha plugs when the fish are running the beach. also a drop rig with squid usually produces.
  5. I have a citrix that i really like fishing. its a spinning set up. my only complaint is the reel lock down screw comes loose if you dont gorilla grip it to tighten it. other than that i like it. well i dont have any casting gear so i started looking, i originally was looking at dobyns fury and the abu veracity, well in the meantime i ended up breaking my citrix. so i call okuma and they handled my warranty claim, and it was absolutely painless. so i send the rod in with a check for $19.95 and im waiting on my return rod. the process with the warranty claim made me want another okuma. so i start looking and found a EVX for $60 shipped. i couldnt resist. it has the same lifetime warranty as the citrix. so im just wondering if anyone has one and what your thoughts are? I have heard great things about the veracity but it doesnt have the same warranty as okuma. and i read the dobyns are great too with a good warranty but not as good as okuma. i think i read you have to pay $50-70 to replace a dobyns compared to the $20 for okuma. so anyone fish a EVX? do you like it?
