Bass catcher

Thanks! I was not 100% sure it was even a bass, so at least I got that part right I do have a little book that shows all the different kinds of fish, but everytime I pull one out of the lake they all kinda look the same to me...except for the catfish.

I just started fishing for bass this month, and I caught this one at lunch. It felt like it weighed between 1 and 2 lbs, but that's a guess. Can any experienced anglers tell me what kind of bass this is? This was in Gaithersburg, MD. Thanks!
