  1. I would personally lean toward the Powell Max 3D line of rods. They have a 7'3" Heavy rod for $160 that will take care of what you need to do.
  2. When the fishing gets tough I would go to a drop shot rig. It allows the bait to suspend a foot or so off the bottom and it gets those finicky bass to bite. I also wouldn't use a weight over 1/4 ounce because the bait will fall too quickly when you bounce it off the bottom, you only want a small wiggle to the bait. If the drop shot doesn't work I would try new bodies of water because maybe the fish population isn't as good.
  3. When you are using your punch rig, make sure you peg your weight so the lure gets down under the weeds. I would never use anything under 50 pound braid for punching scenarios. I have also found that Jigs 3/4 of an ounce and up get through great. Use darker colors under the weeds because the water clarity will not be as clear or bright.
  4. I recommend downsizing to a finesse jig. The only times I get pond bass on a jig is when I use size 1/8 ounce and lighter. Also try not to have a bulky trailer. For example, instead of a Rage Tail Rage Craw, use the Rage Tail Rage Chunk to give you a smaller profile. Green Pumpkin and Junebug are my go to colors.
  5. Hey guys, I just moved to Riverview from Minnesota and have no idea where to find bass. I do not own a boat, and we've tried ponds in the area. But, most ponds here have "no fishing" signs and some do not have bass at all. If any of you know good bass spots in the area please reply and let me know where it's at.
  6. Hey, I have been bass fishing in the twin cities area for around 6 years so I know a couple good spots. In the early season lake Harriet has a ton of good bass fishing along the shore. But in Minny the weeds get extremely thick in the summer so try techniques like a top water frog and punching. In the summer I like cedar lake because it has lily pads covering its entire shore, and the bass will be accessible from the bank (in Harriet they go too deep). Also, if you have a boat lake Minnetonka is hands down the best bass fishing in the state. Good luck!
  7. I use a Texas rigged rage craw in falcon lake craw when I need a confidence bait.
  8. Hi I recently found an opportunity to purchase a revo mgx for $180. Does anyone have information or personal experience with it? I'm wondering how good of a deal it it.
  9. Thanks for all the responses!!! I got a 7'0 MH fast dobyns champion casting rod and a Lews tournament pro speed spool for Texas rigs and jigs. I think I have a great start to my fishing future
  10. I should have clarified. I have two Rods Already. A 6'6" medium fast baitcast and a 6'6" medium fast spinning
  11. Hi I'm new to bass resource and I have a budget of $400. I'm asking opinions on if I should get two $200 combos or one $400
