  1. Ok, so I had the exact same problem with my terminal tackle sliding all around. I tried a water proof plano that some had said would prevent the smaller tackle like micro swivels and split rings from jumping the dividers. It did not work, the second I put the box in my tackle bag stuff would start getting all jumbled especially if it was rough on the water. After dealing with this for a couple months, reorganizing all the time, I bit the bullet and bought the Bait Coffin. I was told again this was the ultimate and I would not have to worry about stuff moving. Well guess what? It still did it. At this point I wasn't ready just to let the box sit because it is a very nice box, so I did the rubber mat mod. This worked really well and stuff no longer shifts.
  2. They make this stuff called Mend It. It is a soft plastic repair glue that fuses soft plastics back together, Perhaps you could buy some cheap swim baits and nip the tails off them then fuse them to the blue gill. Also I suppose you could use the ribbon tail off a worm or something to give it some action.
  3. I am very lucky in the fact that my father's house house has a small lake right out the back door. I am luckier in the regard that we have a great boat to fish out of (1989 Lund Pro-V with a 90hp Yama). The thing that bothers me though is the politics of this lake are not at all centered around fishing. Few people that have property on the lake fish so they just don't understand the common courtesy things like we all do. People will drive really close by you when you are fishing blowing up your spot. Also they put weed killer in the lake and I don't know but the bite seems off for a while after that. Also my biggest pet peeve is when the lake freezes over many people walk on and keep every bass they catch. It's a sad scene when you go fishing in the morning and find 20 frozen heads left by people from the day before. I'm not trying to say my way is the only way to enjoy the water but mutual respect goes a long way.
  4. So this season chatter baits have produced the most strikes for me by far. After a bunch of trial and error I end up fishing this setup more often than not: 1) A 3/8oz Project Z Chatter bait from Z man in Breaking Bream Color. 2) A Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3.8 inch in Green Pumpkin, Houdini and Male Perch I fish these on a 7' MH fast action rod with braid and a flouro leader. I don't trim my trailers down until they get messed up and I need fresh plastic to engage the bait keepers on the chatter bait. When fishing it I slow my retrieve down as slow as possible so the blade is still pumping. One thing I have yet to try that a lot of dudes are doing with the swim bait trailers is remove the skirt. I haven't tried yet because the Project Z versions skirt has great action in the water and when you halt it the whole thing will pulse out. The other thing I like is the fact that it has eyes on it for a little more realism. Good luck to you and I hope you have as much fun fishing them as I do.
  5. Well Senkos use that real soft rubber and they load them up with salt. Part of the reason they get strikes is how they sink. They will fall parallel to the bottom and have a subtle wiggling action. For whatever reason this drives the bass crazy and they hit it. I think the real benefit of using a Senko is the fact that bass will hold on to them just that bit longer, due to the softness and salt. This translates to a little more time to set the hook.
  6. Ah didn't know that, thought the two terms were interchangeable. Thanks for the info
  7. Yea I've heard he uses the parabolic rods for chatter baits. I have been having more success with a regular action rod however. I guess its just not for me. I think I'm just gonna go with the 7'1" because I mostly use a chatter bait as a search bait and I'm trying to cover a lot of water. Also I need the higher lure rating for the Keitechs going on as a trailer.
  8. So would you say for this application an extra fast action would be too fast? The only reason I ask is because the 6'9" is billed as a spinner bait rod and it has an extra fast action to it.
  9. No problem man. I was just asking between the two rods I listed which one would you choose and why is all. I appreciate the responses. So what length and action for your Denali are you choosing?
  10. Well, I'm going to have to order it from TW so I won't be able to test them before I buy. I would rather not have to ship it back either. The rod I use for spinner baits now is the 7ft MH Abu, but because of how stiff it is I am not sure if it is the best option for these style of baits.
  11. Hey Guys, Firstly great website, love the wealth of knowledge here. So I wanted to ask your opinions on which rod would you rather use for Chatter Baits. Right now I fish my chatter baits on a 7' MH Fast action Abu Garcia Veracity, I use braided line with a flouro leader and a 6.6:1 reel. This rod fishes more like a heavy in my opinion, it is very stiff. After reading suggestions on this site I tried fishing a chatter bait on my Mod action Loomis E6X (845c CBR) and I can safely say I don't think its for me. So I've narrowed it down to two rods: 1) G Loomis E6X 812c SBR 6'9" M Extra Fast 3/8oz.-1/2oz 2) G Loomis E6X 853c JWR 7'1" MH Extra Fast 3/16oz-5/8oz I love my E6X for crank baits and would like to try one of their other rods in this line. Regardless of which one I pick I will be using braid with a flouro leader and a 7.3:1 reel. So what are your thoughts guys?
