  1. If you call the factory store they are selling the Rage rods for $60 each plus $10 for shipping, if you buy 2 or more rage rods the price drops to $50 plus $10 shipping for up to 5 rods.
  2. Where do you see the Abu Garcia Villain for $79 at Bass Pro? When I type it in there's nothing but Vendetta's, Vengeance and Veritas.
  3. Do you have the link to this web store?
  4. Okay, I would like a versatile rod that i could fish several different types of lures with...anything from senkos and craw fish to crank baits to smaller swim baits to top water. Right now the rods I'm looking at are as follows (in no particular order): St. Croix Rage ($60) No. 8 Black Out ($80) Duckett Ghost ($99) There may be others but those are the 3 I've found that pique my interest. Obviously the less money i have to spend all the better as I can put it towards something else. I'm thinking 7ft. MH/F would be the most versatile rod length/action for most all of the lures/baits I listed above but if you have other suggestions I'm all ears :).
  5. I'm in the same boat as you, check this out...Pflueger President LE on Jet.com, it's $78 but if you use the "15now" code at checkout you save an additional 15% which brings it down to $66 plus it's free shipping.
  6. Yeah, I see that but I would really like to get some opinions of people who have first-hand knowledge of the reel.
  7. Morning bump...still try to get first hand impressions of this reel. Thanks.
  8. Does anybody have experience with this reel? It's up for consideration if I upgrade my current spinning reel.
  9. I guess it's too late so I probably shouldn't show you this...President Limited Edition for $59 on Jet.com. The regular price is $69 but if you use the "15now" code that saves you 15% and knocks off another $10. Free shipping too.
  10. Thanks for the comment Goose! I actually am looking for the higher speed ratio for a spinning reel and the classic President is the 5.6:1 and the President LE is a 6.2:1 plus it sounds like a lot of the internal equipment is better overall than the classic President and that's why I was looking at it and the Lew's I mentioned.
  11. Hi all, just wondering between these two spinning reels which one would be better? I've got a nice Lew's Tournament Pro baitcaster to use this year but wanted a nice spinning reel to use for bass/trout etc. this season (currently use a Shimano Syncopate which is good but would like to upgrade a little), don't want to spend all outdoors on one though and am looking in the $60 - $70 range by which most reviews point to these two particular reels. Just wanted everybody's thoughts on these two.
  12. http://www.cabelas.com/product/BERKLEY-EMOTION-CAST-ROD/1883902.uts It says not available online and to purchase you must call customer service.
  13. I see that Cabelas has these rods on sale for $39.99 (half off the usual $79.99 price), are they worth it? Anybody on here use them? I know that many people have the Lightning Rod Shocks which get mixed reviews.
  14. I believe this one had the micro guides...the guides were really tiny. Now I know that the No. 8 Black Out rod is $80 as well, how do these two rods compare?
  15. I saw a nice 7ft. heavy Falcon Bucco rod in Wal-Mart on clearance for $79.99...is this a good deal or are there other better options in that $80 price range?
  16. I don't have any stores near me so I would be shopping strictly online :(.
  17. Any idea when Academy usually puts their H2o Ethos rods on sale...heard you can get the regular Ethos for $40 and the micro for $50 - $60 when they are on sale.
  18. Maybe I was confused...maybe it's Bass Pro Shops that has a big sale in February???
  19. I seem to remember people saying that Academy Sports has a big sale some time in February...am I remembering correctly? If so, any ideas when in February? I'd like to get a new H2o rod.
  20. Okay, I see a lot of you guys talk about leaders on here...stupid question alert, what do you use the leaders for? I use leaders when trout fishing with a Carolina rig where you cast out and forget about it until a fish bites but I've never used a leader for bass fishing where you're constantly casting out and reeling in and casting out again...what are the benefits?
  21. Yeah, 12lb. Big Game mono is $.03 per yard so for the same amount as the braid I mentioned above would be $3.15 vs. $11.55.
  22. I heard that braid is more forgiving than mono and that if you birds nest it's easier to get out and still save your line? I know that Dick's has 50lb. Power Pro in bulk and it's pretty cheap...$.11 per yard so like 105 yards would be $11.55.
  23. Forgot to add that it's the 6.4:1 gear ratio. That's one of the better all-around ratio's according to many people and since I can't afford a lot of reels this reel will be used for a variety of different baits/techniques...that and the lefty version only comes in the 6.4:1 helped make that choice .
  24. First off I want to thank everybody who has replied to any of my numerous posts debating which reel would be best for me...it definitely helped me by giving me the information to (hopefully) make an informed decision. After much deliberation...back and forth, back and forth, 2nd guessing, adding more reels to the equation...I finally settled on one today and the winner is...the Lew's Tournament Pro!!! I bought it for $129.99 on sale. In the end in a battle of near equals with the Daiwa Tatula and a late entrant the Shimano Curado I for some reason the looks of the TP just appealed to me more. I liked the carbon finish better as it seems more scratch resistant to me, I liked the overall color scheme of the reel better and I liked the fact that being smaller/lighter it opened up more choices for rods to pair it with. After pouring over reviews from every corner of the Internet as well as reading posts about members here who have them it just seems like they are a very solid if not spectacular reel that I will last me a very long time and will grow with me as a fisherman instead of me outgrowing it in a couple of years as (hopefully) my skill set improves. Even though there's just about a month left in the season up here in Vermont before it's so cold that places start icing over and the fish stop being active I can't wait to get my new reel and mount it on a rod. I intend to start with 50lb. Power Pro braid anchored to the spool by some 15lb. mono (or whatever the thickness equivalent is to the braid). Even if I don't end up going fishing before the end of the season I will at least get out and cast some practice plugs in the backyard. Now all of you people with a TP...get ready for some beginner questions on how to set this little beauty up ;-). Thanks again to one and all who took part in this decision process!!!
