  1. Wow. I never knew that was wrong. Glad I haven't broken my rods yet. I'll be more careful from now on. No one ever told me.
  2. Ive been skunked 5 of 7 of my last trips. Nothing is biting my lines this week or last.
  3. So last night one quietly ate my kvd sexy frog and I set the hook like I meant it and the poor fella came flying out of the water straight at me. No fun in that, but at 1.4lbs it was a good catch for me. Next up 5 minutes later another sissy slapped at me froggy so I put the worm on it.... 10 seconds later I had another 1.3lb fish with a hook through his mouth in two spots! Just when I was worried about the frog bite dying out.
  4. Caught 2 more on a sexy spotted frog last night! Kvd green yellow and spotted. I don't think color seems to matter. White spotted, yellow spotted, and yellow and green spotted have all worked for me.
  5. I have 6'6" a 7' and a 7'6". I like them all but my long rod casts way farther than the other two. The long rod feels better for my tall self as well.
  6. LH makes most sense to someone who's right handed. I do that.
  7. Lol@op for falling for that story.
  8. Perhaps the lack of a weight banging onto rocks would be a detriment, but I like the hook scheme.
  9. Guys, that is weedless like a frog and better profiled than typical Texas rig. It's more realistic all the way around and has 2 hooks. What's not to like?
  10. I really don't understand any difference. Sometimes I fish my frogs moving, and other times twitching. A toad seems no different.
  11. First three caught, next 3 or 4 just swat. I don't think the fish are into the frogs now from my recent experience. They seem to be very lazy hits as of lately.
  12. I haven't seen it replied yet, but I don't consider fish, any fish, nibbling at my bait but not eating it as "losing" fish. You never had that fish, and that's just part of fishing. Lots more nibbles than bites, lots more bites than caught fish, lots more caught fish than keepers, and so on.
  13. Why in the world would you have any reason to dislike Trokar hooks? They might be expensive but they are far superior to most hooks on the market. Awesome sharp profiles that cut into fish.
  14. Awesome catch. Love seeing video.
  15. Another one took ol froggy down last night but I didn't weak arm on the hookset this time- still missed. Froggy came flying by my head! That was after I gave about 1.5 seconds delay. I guess he never got it in his mouth?
  16. I buy a $2 box of eazy Hefty zipper bags and store all like colors together. I hate the cheap "ziplock" bags that most stuff comes in.
  17. I don't understand why a toad rod is different from a frog rod.
  18. I watched several videos and I couldn't see any hooksets at all. Do you have a link for one with hooset action?
  19. Thanks for all the replies. So tell me this: if I have visual contact and see the bait is in the mouth is it a go on a big hookset? Or do I still need to give time for the fish to get it deeper into the throat?
  20. Thanks...yeah it's a med heavy...I incidentally landed my first three bass from a frog without any particularly hard hookset, one I didnt even set at all...so I just did what ive been doing, and now this is the first one I've lost. I guess I was just lucky before and now I will do hard hooksets. It's 7' long. I'm contemplating getting a 7'6" heavy rod with a 7:1 reel for frogging. Is that better than the 6.4:1 7' med heavy I'm using now?
  21. Feel better?I'm about 7-8 weeks into this hobbie. I don't know any better, that's why I'm asking. I'm not asking to "feel better". Did you note my handle/screen name? So what was it anyway? Both too quick and not hard enough? Or just not hard enough?
  22. Why? It sounds like a fishing report if ever there was one. That brings me to another point. Why is there a two page long topic on "what am I doing wrong" in the general section? When I made one identical a couple weeks ago it got moved to the fishing reports section.
