  1. I own both and they're both great rods. The Rage is going to be more sensitive because it consists of SCIII graphite where as the old mojos which are listed for sale consist of SCII graphite. I own both and they're both great rods. The Rage handle is an acquired taste but it's grown on me. For $90, I'd get both and if you have a local Dick's sporting goods, I picked up each of my St Croix's for $75 a piece!!
  2. Drop shot combo? The best I can think of is a 2014 Shimano Stella 2500HGS and the newest St. Croix Legend Elite (shown at iCast).
  3. Hey guys, I was going to order a little under 10 bags of Robo worms from tackle warehouse. I am definitely buying Robo worms for drop shotting but I am looking for color recommendations and everyone's opinion on Robo worms. All of the reviews were positive minus their durability, but durability isn't a concern. I was going to cover the basic colors, (dark, light, natural) and my confidence colors; however, if anyone has any recommendations they would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I was planning on buying a St. Croix Rage. Which are on sale for $90. Plus you get a free hat. I've used ugly stiks for ever but I want serving for drop shotting. Hope this helps!
  5. I read in multiple reviews on TWH that the tips snapped on the 6' 8" M XF rage spinning rod. Not a big fan of the handle design either but I can't judge it until I try it. Thanks for letting me know about the different Rod blanks, people do say that the SC2 to SC3 is a huge jump! One thing I do like about the esthetics of the rage are the colors (it would look great with my Stradic Ci4+) I'm going to most likely give it a try (the price is unbeatable) and if I don't like it, I'll get a new Mojo for next season! thanks for your responses!
  6. Also, if this helps, I was in the market for a drop shot rod. So I want the most sensitive Rod I can get in my $100 budget. In time I want a cranking stick and some other casting rods but this question is mainly posed towards drops shorting. While I have this post up, does anyone have any fluro carbon recommendations? I've heard good things about Seagur, P line, viscious and sun line but I've only ever used mono and braid. Thanks.
  7. Thanks guys, I'll look into the Rage rods. I'll still consider the mojo if they are durable as you said. The rage rid sounds like a great price point for me especially with the hat lol.
  8. I'm in the same situation, but I would definitely pick up an Abu Garcia Orra Winch for the money. $100 retail but on Amazon it's about $90. Also, tackle wear house has a Daiwa Lexa left hand in a 4:1 ratio on sale for $60. If you don't have s budget, check out a revo winch by Abu Garcia, which retails for $200 but can be found for $50 off.
  9. Power Pro super slick braid is the best braid in my opinion. I'd go with 30 lb for all around (frogging, punching, etc) And that being said braid is more for heavy cover fishing where fish can't see line and better hooksets. Cheap mono is great for beginner fisherman, and I still constantly use it. I use lighter pound test but if you're fishing structure go with at least 14 lb. the only problem with mono is its more visible than fluoro carbon. Fluoro carbon is the truest invisible fishing line. I hardly ever use Fluoro carbon but if you want to try it, go with at least 14lb for fishing structure. The downside to fluoro is that it breaks the easiest in my opinion. Always remember to wet your fluro before tying any knots, other wise it will snap! I personally use as light line as possible so I'm always fishing 6lb - 10lb mono and 20lb - 30lb braid. To reassure you on all this, I own 2 black maxes that fish all the lines I suggested with ease.
  10. Hey guys, I'm wanting to get a new rod. I was really hyped about getting a few mojo bass rods by St croix- but people give them so much crap on here! I have only used ugly stiks and Abu rods under $80 to success (I have used other rods which broke). My thoughts on why people bash the mojo bass rods on here is because they use really high end gear, where all I want is to upgrade from very cheap rods. Can you guys at least assure me that the mojo bass rods are better than the ugly stiks and Abu rods I've been using??? To give you an idea, the most sensitive I own is the ugly stik intercostal 6' 6" Medium 2 pc.
