Northeast Angler? How Was (Is) Fishing Summer 2015
Hey guys, I'm from Boston and I was wondering how has it been the fishing this summer for you guys that live here in the Northeast. Talking about numbers and size, compared to other summers and more important other seasons. For me it has been super difficult. I'm trying many different approaches with minimum feedback. Me and my wife are hitting different lakes and pounds almost every weekend with the same results. Besides one that was a bluegill (small) fest even with bigger hooks. I dont own a boat so, if you have been fishing from the bank/shore, I'm also super interested in knowing how productive this summer has been.

Tackle Backpack
I'm in the same situation as you. No boat, all shore fishing. I carry a Targus backpack, the large model, you can fit a 17' laptop on the back. It has great space and its light, it wont last forever, but for the price it has been serving me really well. it goes from $30 to $70 on amazon, give it a look.

Your Opinions Please
I like the hollow body frog a lot! There is something about being able to hear when the fish bites. I usually dont have a lot of luck when the water is too hot, so I throw my frogs around sunrise and the first hours of the morning.

What Kind Of Rig To Have A Plastic Worm Swimming 1-2Ft Subsurface?
I think you are getting warmer to solve this... I just checked the rod, its 6ft medium. The reel is 80% filled. It has some mono on the bottom and braid on top. I just got it done at bass pro. It was my first time fishing with braid, so I cant really judge how good it was filled. I did get some wind knots, but nothing major. The new rod is again an Ugly Stick (Im fishing on a budget! hehehe) but its a Elite model 7ft, medium power, fast action, model USESP701M

What Kind Of Rig To Have A Plastic Worm Swimming 1-2Ft Subsurface?
It was the one that comes with the combo rod+reel. Its a cheap cheap rod. The tip is very firm, so Im guessing its at least a medium-fast. I bought the bigger reel because I know its a matter of time until I upgrade the rod. I just made a big purchase of tackle and rods for surf fishing so I was not planing in buying new fresh water rods. I was wondering if I could solve this problem without having to change the rod. I know its a big part of the gear, but when my wife uses it with a bobber for bluegill and sunfish, it casts really well. So that got me thinking that the tip might not be the problem. The problem is actually that the rod is made to throw heavier lure (probably something around 1/2oz and 1.5oz) but Im using a super light worm weightless...but then again... If I use weights I will get tangle in the weed/grass madness. So I think the question is: Given that I have a rod that is better for lures around 1oz, how do I cast lighter ones without changes the rod and reel? But I think I know the answer... you just dont...

What Kind Of Rig To Have A Plastic Worm Swimming 1-2Ft Subsurface?
Guys, I dont know what to say, I might be doing something really wrong because my rig today was with a spinning! So crazy, I couldnt cast for the life in me further than 10 feet or so! I tried texas rigging, weightless, carolina helped a little but it was still a miserable cast. I have no idea what is going on.

What hook size would you use?

What Kind Of Rig To Have A Plastic Worm Swimming 1-2Ft Subsurface?
Do you think 20# braid is too much? Thats what Im using. I do have a 7ft rod coming to me tomorrow, its fast action, probably not the greatest cast in the planet, but the length will help. What do you think?

What Kind Of Rig To Have A Plastic Worm Swimming 1-2Ft Subsurface?
I did, could not cast more than 10 feet. I was using a 6 ft rod with braided line.

What Kind Of Rig To Have A Plastic Worm Swimming 1-2Ft Subsurface?
Hey guys, I was fishing the Jamaica Pond in Boston today and I had a little problem with the weed/grass. The pond is very shallow near the shore so any type of lures/bait I throw, cannot go lower than 1-2 feet bellow the surface. Otherwise it just becomes and rake on the bottom of the pond. I tried a worm texas rigged with a 1/4oz weight and it didnt work. As I only fish from the shore, I was wondering what would bring the odds to look good again. Any suggestions for lures and set ups for this new angler? I am mainly targeting bass, mostly large mouth.

Noob Looking To Learn!
Hello guys, Its great to be here! Currently I live in Boston - MA and have been fishing both fresh and saltwater. I do not own a boat, so all the action is made from the shore and surf! I have been fishing my whole life, I am originally from South America, the tackle there is totally different with way less options! Im sure I will learn a lot with you guys and I hope we have a good time sharing some stories! best!
