  1. I have heard and read various statements concerning the spine of rod blanks, whether it effects the actions of a finished rod when Largemouth Bass fishing.
  2. Hope I can get some kind of response. I received a Liberty MB794 7'9" blank at the International Custom Rod Builders Expo in Winston-Salem, NC last weekend. Spent Yesterday and today building this Jig pitchin' rod for the upcoming season. Thing is I was told put 11 guides or more on that rod starting with the stripper guide at 13" from the reel. Finished the rod today. Haven't tried it and don't really know what to expect. Ended up with 16 guides not counting the tip top. Reason I put 16 guides on rod was when rod loaded up it took that many guides spaced to keep line from contacting rod when rod is bent with load. Any opinion of number of guides?
  3. Like to know what I am doing wrong? I have tried almost every brand of Fluorocarbon line out today and have not had it last more that 3 weeks before finding it breaks. I usually use 10-15 # line depending on technique. I had fluorocarbon line on both Baitcast and Spinning reels which had been stored on my boat in a carport out of exposure to direct sun. I have lost some good fish and just recently lost a tournament due to having a real good fish break off due to broke fluorocarbon 12# line. I had just tied to braid using a double uni knot not 8 hours earlier. Now the strength line I use is 10#-15# depending the technique. I've had this concern several times using fluorocarbon line several times and have know stopped using the line till I find some answers. How I test the test is a bit broad, I tie an overhand line wet the knot and slowly pull it tight by hand. I then pull slowly increasing outward. Depending on line strength how soon I expect the line to break if at all. Again I would like to know what I am doing wrong?
  4. I'm a relocated Louisiana fisherman of around 30 years living in the Mcleansville. NC area. I have camper at Buggs Island on the NC/Va border near Henderson, NC I go up there around every two weeks.
