2 DropShot Rods, need help deciding (EDIT: Phenix M1 BROKE!)
Thanks guys, this is what I was looking for... this actually makes me happy because if they fish lighter than the rating then the Medium should be more like a medium light which is what I wanted. Now to order one and hope the sensitivity is on par with what I'm wanting. I'm sure it will be, I have heard nothing but great things about the M1 line-up.

2 DropShot Rods, need help deciding (EDIT: Phenix M1 BROKE!)
Just picked up a Pflueger Supreme XT 30 and now need a sweet rod to go with it. Rod will primarily be use for DS with the occasional grub or ned rig thrown on it. I have narrowed it down to 2 rods: Fenwick Elite Tech 6'10 ML/XF for $135 or Phenix M1 6'9 L/F for $153. I also had the *** Muse Gold ML/F as a possibility, but since more than 1/2 my rods and baitcasting reels are ***, I figured I would try something new. In regards to the Phenix, my only worry was the L/F being too soft as I have heard Phenix rod are a little below their stated rating. For people who have used the Phenix rods, would I be better off going with 7'2 M/XF and it would act more like a ML? This rod doesn't have a "ton" of info about it online so figured I would ask here. As for the Fenwick, I have heard alot of great things about it and think it would fit the bill if I go that route. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD... Stay on topic in responses, I don't care about your $500 Gloomis rod or how good your StC Legend rod is... I'm only concerned with the rods listed above. (I know how you guys get in threads like these , lol) I thought about adding Dobyns to this list, however I've heard the Phenix M1 line beat out anything below the Champion Extreme price point, (of course this is subjective) Even though I could get 30% off, the standard Champion would be as high as I could go at this moment.

Search begins for my perfect pair of sunglasses
Luxottica is the company you are talking about, they also own Ray Ban and others while manufacturing / distibuting glasses for many other brands they are contracted with Costa isn't one of those brands... they make their lenses in house. Mahi Jim, Smith, Kaenon... are also NOT made by Luxottica. Oakley however IS with the Luxottica group. Also, chances are impact resistant lenses are polycarbonate lenses or a propriotary matrial is used.. which means they are not distortion free. This is where the difference is glass lenses are noticable. I believe Kaenon is one of the few companies with a special material, SR91, that would even come close to the clarity of glass. Costa even acknowledges the different between their own 580Ps and their 580Gs.

Search begins for my perfect pair of sunglasses
Well I made my order. Got a pair of BRINEs in matte black with the green mirror 580g lenses. I wanted to go Silver but I figured if I'm going to buy a pair of Kaenon C28s at some point for low light fishing, then the 10% light transmission on the Green mirrors would be fine. As people said glass is heavy on the nose, but the BRINEs are a smaller profiled frame so I don't think they will be as heavy as some of the others. I bought them on EBAY from a very high rated dealer for $165 and got expedited shipping for free so I should have them by the end of the week... hopefully. https://www.costadelmar.com/shop/sunglasses/brine-1/291

Search begins for my perfect pair of sunglasses
Found a place yesterday to try some pairs on... Brine is about the only ones that actually fit my face, but they will probably not be the best for keeping "ALL" the light out since it is a smaller frame. TBH I don't think any glasses really keep it all out, some just do it better. You pretty much would have to have a foam seal around the frames to fit it to your face to accomplish this. But all in all, I would rather worry about a little light depending on the angle to the sun, then be uncomfortable on the water for hours at a time. I wear a hat all the time when I fish so I really just have to worry about the sides. All other frames were either too loose, slid off my nose, or were extremely tight. Checked out the green and silver mirror... think I'm going to go silver. Wife went to, think she is gonna get the Palapa metal framed glasses with the copper (no mirror) lenses. Couple months down the road I'm actually planning on buying some Kaenons.... probably some Jettys with the C28 lenses. Ya, that is definitely where I'm buying mine... Brines with silver mirror probably run me around $165

Search begins for my perfect pair of sunglasses
The hardest part is finding them in stores to try some on. I have a lot of stores around that have say Costas online, but wont carry them in stores.

Ya I'll have to check them out. The only thing I know I'm dead set on is having a copper base lense.

Search begins for my perfect pair of sunglasses
As the title states, I'm going to finally drop a wad of cash on some glasses now that I finally got my boat a couple weeks ago. Obviously we already know everyone loves Costas, especially the Green Mirror ones, but I'm searching for peoples thought on some of the other companies out there as well. One brand would be Kaenon and the SR91 lenses, has anyone used these and what are your thought? I've seen alot of reviews even where people dropped Costas and started using some of these lenses.Oakley H20 shallows at first were another option, but I've seen mixed reviews on them and I also try to avoid supporting Luxottica as much as possible Smith could possibly be an option, but I honestly haven't done enough research on them. As far as Costas go, I know alot of people are going to recommend them, but what I would like to know is if I'm buying just ONE pair of glasses for now would the silver mirror be a better route to go vs the Green if I want to use them for everything? I see the recommendation for Green is more for sunny sight fishing and the silvers are supposed to be more versatile. I would rather have a pair of glasses that will do everything very well vs a pair that only does 1 thing great, if that makes sense. Any input would help, so many options in the sunglasses market it's a little overwhelming. Thanks

Best Casting Rod For $ 200
I can get Dobyns Champion for 160-180 depending on the power/taper/length. Dobyns offers active duty and vets 30% any rod if ordered straight from Dobyns. Just have to provide proof. Or... everyone else wait until a good TW sale, lol.

Ram mount for Garmin 73sv?
Here are the two I went with: First pic is the Garmin 73DV on a 6" Horizontal Swing mount RAM 109HU Second pic is the Garmin 73SV console mounted with the RAM 111u Both are great choices depending on where you are mounting it.

Best Silicone/Epoxy for my transducer / mounting plate?
Don't think I can put the old screws back in because I'll be mounting the plate over the old holds. I did have an idea to put the old screw back in and on the board possibly drill out just a bit of the board to get the screw heads to fit into and then cover those head with silicone before mounting the board.

Best Silicone/Epoxy for my transducer / mounting plate?
So I picked up a 73sv and 73dv during that BassPro sale and got everything wired with power and mounted where they need to be. Now I'm at the point I need to mount the SV transducer on the back of the boat. I bought one of those $20 mounting boards from BassPro which come with the 2 screws to put it on the boat. My questions are: 1) What epoxy or silicon should I use to not only fill the old holes, but put around the screws I use to mount the board? 2) I would like to do a bead all around the edge of the board, should I use the same epoxy or a silicone for this? 3) (Boating newb question) I'm assuming the holes from the transducer are drilled into a hollow area in back of the boat, how do I properly fill and seal up these holes? Any extra info that you think would be helpful please post it, never installed these before. Also my boat is aluminum if that makes a difference. Thanks guys! Really happy with how everything has come out so far...

Helix 5si vs. garmin striker 7sv
Actually not completely true, the 2D sonar just isn't chirp, but it has dual beam which is plenty for bass fishing. The Down and Sidevu is chirp on the GT40 transducer.

Garmin 93sv VS Humminbird Helix 9si
What do you think of the Sidevu on that unit, is it pretty clear? Ya i talked to CS at BPS.com... the description was wrong and it is for sure a GT40, not a GT22 and they will change the website to reflect that. Another quick question though: If I run 2 of these units, I know FFs can interfere with each other, but that would only be on the same setting right? Example: If I run both on Sidevu and both at the same freq, i would expect messy results... but if I ran one with say 2D and mapping, and the other I just ran the DV/SV split screen, they shouldn't mess with each other right? I dont know how transducers really work is why im asking, I dont know if it just sends everything out and then just reads the ones for the specific screen ur on, or if it only sends the specific frequency for what you want and nothing else. If its too much of a pain, I would then just go with one 93sv if there is no benefit to running 73sv. Anyone that could help I would appreciate it... if it causes too much of an issue between the units I'm just gonna get one. Thanks.

Garmin 93sv VS Humminbird Helix 9si
Well d**n, a echomap 93sv with the GT40 is still $1k.... thinking two 73sv might be what I'm going for now. Now just to explain to wife why I need 2 of them This is why BPS irritates me though... 010-01575-01 is the part number listed on the website. Following a google link that is the # associated with the GT52 which is the new transducer which isn't even out yet. If you continue to read the discription is says: Comes with transom and trolling motor mounts, Tilt/Swivel quick disconnect mount, and GT22-TM—High Wide CHIRP, 250W and CHIRP DownVü, 500W transducer. Designed to work with Minn Kota® and MotorGuide® trolling motors with integrated transducers. I would almost be afraid to order them because you really don't even know I don't understand you will get

Garmin 93sv VS Humminbird Helix 9si
The only difference between the GT40 and the new GT52 was the 2D traditional Chirp on the new one right? The GT40 has the 2 Freq HD-ID and then the chirp still on the DV and SV. And I wonder what BPS would put those on sale for... threw my wifes work I get $50 BPS gift cards for $45... so depending on the sale + 10% on gift cards.... mounting two 73sv might be better that one 93sv... OH god, my wife isn't going to like this, lol. Only problem with the BPS ones is online they say they have the GT22 transducers which are just traditional everything... would prefer atleast the GT40. EDIT: Actually I think BPS website is just wrong. GT22 is for chirp but its a DV only transducer, but later in the description talks about SV as well, so it probably is a GT40. http://www8.garmin.com/transducers/d/transducer-selection-guide-2015.pdf

Garmin 93sv VS Humminbird Helix 9si
For the most part, I'll only "need" the mapping when I'm driving down to Kentucky Lake and other larger lakes... the ones I need it for with out a doubt will be covered. I saw a 73sv and a Helix 9 this weekend... after some inspection and comparing the units for a bit, I'm pretty sure the Garmin is going to be the right choice for me.

My New Ride - Lowe Stinger 175
Ya, cabin fever has definitely set in. Been buying time organizing boxes and restocking tackle before spring as well as getting some new rod / reel combos set up. Just the 60hp, most of my time will be creeping around with the trolling motor so I decided to upgrade it... no way would the 45 EDGE cut it for what I wanted.

My New Ride - Lowe Stinger 175
Here are some random pics. Was first looking at the TM Pro Team 175s, but the Lowe was much nicer so I had to pick one up. Will be picking the boat up next week after the Maxxum 70 + Extra battery gets put in and the custom cover is made. Once I get her in the garage I'll be putting on a Garmin Echomap 93sv w/ GT52, RAM 6" swing mount, Stern Saver Mount for transducer, troll perfect / Coolfoot on Maxxum 70 and a Minn Kota 315D charger. Later on down the road I'll get a good buttseat, but usually I just stand all day. Should have everything she will need for Spring.

Garmin 93sv VS Humminbird Helix 9si
So I'm picking up my new Lowe Stinger 175 next week and need to get a fish finder, that little default lowerance just isn't going to cut it. I've narrowed the search down to 2 specific fish finders as I am in need of some input. From what I've seen in stores the Garmin stands out to me as having better imaging in general, especially the Sidevu, but this is also a simulation and not with setting dialed in. I also like the fact it come with contoured lakes built into the 93sv. With the helix I would have to get the cards. All in all I think I want to get the Garmin, but with having no real experience with either on the water I would like some general input especially if anyone out there has tried both. Kinda of like a pros vs cons type of thing, so any help is appreciated. Thanks guys, Dan PS, the specific 93sv I found on sale comes with the GT40 transducer not the newer GT52, so it wont have chirp 2D sonar like the 52, but it will have the chirp DV/SV. If the chirp 2D is very "must have" then I would have to go the route of the 73sv w/ GT52 due to my limit i want to spend at the moment.
