New rod/reel, not sure what to rig up
Thanks for the response. Your comment about the treble hook baits makes a ton of sense and I agree about the pitching jigs, I'd want a heavier setup for that. It kinda sounds like this setup would be good for a lot of "targeted" fishing. Would you recommend any search type rig I could throw on to find where the fish are holding before switching to the slower/targeted presentations? I know this is a technique specific rod but I want to use it as my all around rod since it's my only bait casting setup at the moment. My other setup is a drop shot spinning rod which isn't good for searching either. Thanks again!

New rod/reel, not sure what to rig up
Hey guys, First of all, please forgive my novice thread, but this is my first bait casting setup (received it as a gift) and I'm not sure what rigs would work best with it. Here's the setup: Rod: G Loomis E6X 852C JWR (7'1" Medium Extra-Fast Jig/Worm) Reel: Shimano Curado 201i Line: 30lb PowerPro braid w/ a mono backing to prevent slippage. 10lb Fluoro leader. (any advice here would be great as well) I understand that it's called a Jig/Worm rod for a reason, so obviously jigs and worms would be my first guess, but I haven't been able to find much info on how to rig up soft plastics for this type of rod (i.e. Carolina rig, weightless/wacky, dropshot/shaky head, Texas rig). What type of rig would be best suited for this setup? Also, "Jig" seems pretty broad in a sense that there are many types of jigs like finesse jigs, punching jigs, etc. I currently only have 2 jigs and they are both the football head style. Would these be acceptable? Finally, is there any other type of bait that I should or should not throw on this setup like square bills, lipless crank baits, spinner baits, frogs/spooks? Obviously some of these wouldn't be ideal. Thanks for reading

Go To Brands For Plastics
I use Yamamoto Senko, Roboworm, and BioSpawn Plasma Tail (in no particular order). Just depends on what I'm putting it on.

Finally Caught A Decent Sized Largemouth Bass
Hey guys. I just caught my PB largemouth bass over the weekend. I was really excited about it and just had to share! I'm pretty new here and to bass fishing in general so my PB may not be all that impressive. In fact, I don't even know how much it weighed because I don't own a scale. Anyways, here is my story. I've been regularly fishing a local lake specifically targeting LMB. My go-to rig is the drop shot with 4" soft plastic worms and I've been doing very well with it, it definitely catches fish. This time, I tried switching things up a bit by using a double hook drop shot rig. Starting from the bottom, I had a 1/4 oz drop shot weight. 12" up was the first hook and 12" further, a second hook. Both were Gamakatsu 1/0 drop shot hooks tied with a Palomar knot, and each hook was baited with a nose hooked soft plastic 4" worm. I generally switch between Roboworms and Bio Spawn Plasma Tails. I caught 3 small bass (under 1lb) and was about to call it a day when I got another bite after pitching it towards a boat dock. From the bite, I thought it was just another small bass, but once it started fighting I could tell it was a good size. I was a bit nervous landing this one since it was my biggest LMB to date, but it went without any issues. I caught, photographed, and released all fish. Unfortunately, I was fishing alone and couldn't get a really nice photo. Here is what I ended up with. Thanks for reading The rig: First catch: Last catch:

Greetings From Cali
Hey everyone, I'm checking in from the Bay Area, California. I used to fish a lot when I was a kid and lost touch with it when i went to college. I am just getting back into fishing now (bass primarily, but sometimes trout too). I have watched almost all of Glenn's videos on YouTube, and that is what got me very interested in bass. His videos are very informative and to the point. I learned most of my techniques from watching his videos over and over. I haven't caught any big bass yet, but I have landed a fair share of 1-2lb fish. My favorite rig currently is the drop shot. I fish it with a Medium-Light / Fast action spinning rod (Fenwick HMG), Shimano Sahara spinning reel, 15 lb braid backing / 8 lb monofilament leader using an FG knot, and tungsten drop shot weights. My soft plastics of choice for this rig are the 4.5" Roboworm (morning dawn, aaron's magic, and prism shad), and BioSpawn Plasma Tail worms (green pumpkin and junebug). I rig them up on a 1/0 drop shot or octopus hook with a 12"-24" leader. Currently I only fish from the shore. The lakes I frequent are (in no particular order): Almaden Lake Park, Sandy Wool, Shadow Cliffs, and Steven's Creek Reservoir. I also fish around Santa Rosa area sometimes because my brother in law lives up there. Here is a shot from Spring Lake in Santa Rosa of my most recent catch: I hope to expand my knowledge here and share my experiences with you guys!
