Ranger RT188 vs Ranger Z175
Thanks fishnkamp. So is it true that you will spend more money on towing from place to place. I can't see that because the glass boat is only like 70lbs heavier. Also I've heard that on the water fuel consumption is higher in a glass boat from some reason. Does anyone know on that? I'm still not leaning one way or the other on whether to get a fiberglass or an aluminum. I understand that there a pros and cons with both but it's seeming like now a days they are pretty close.

Ranger RT188 vs Ranger Z175
So I know there's the old conversation of fiberglass vs aluminum and I know my question falls right into that. I have been looking at both these boats for a while now and can not decide which to pull the trigger on. I have discovered that a 115hp motor is the best option for me because it is the max horse power for my home lake but it still has enough power for likes like Hartwell and Clarks Hill. Does anyone own or has ever ran either of these boats? Any asvice would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first boat purchase and I am probably over thinking it I know. I want whatever is going to last the longest, be generally simple to maintain, and just be an all around good boat. Thanks.

Where to sell high end kayaks
I have a wilderness systems Atak angling kayak with a ton of wilderness systems accessories. Now I've decided I want to buy a bass boat. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can try to sell my ATAK?

Where did you find it at that price if you don't mind me asking? The humminbird that is. Plus let me know how it works on the yak.

Garmin striker 7.
How does the way point marking work on the water. Is it good or something that is just kind of there?

Humminbird Helix 5 SI GPS
I see what you're saying there but are some of the small lakes I fish most going to be on there? How can I find out which lakes will be on the software?

Humminbird Helix 5 SI GPS
I am having the same thoughts with myself but for the same price I could get the Garmin Striker 7 SV with a 7" screen but it has no maps just waypoint markers. I fish from a kayak as well, what is the benefit you get from having the maps?

Garmin striker 7.
I have played with the Striker 7 at Cabelas and it looks great the display is crystal clear. Has anyone used it on the water is my question? I fish mostly on a Wilderness Systems Atak and really don't care about the maps very much because most of the small lakes don't have maps anyway. I have also looked at the humminbird helix 5 si and it looks ok but for the same price, I can get a 7" screen with basically the same features. The other until I looked at was the Lowrance Elite 7 TI, it is expensive but it basically is a tablet. It can do a lot of stuff that not many other units can, but to me, the display looks like crap as far as the 2d, down scan and Side. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Buying One Today: 2D Sonar Vs Dsi
So Wayne P you don't think the DSI would be worth the money for what you get? I liked the thought of having clear bottom images vs the regular sonar but is it just a gimmic?

Buying One Today: 2D Sonar Vs Dsi
Hey guys I'm going to buy a Fishfinder for my kayak today at Cabelas, because they are on super sale, I'm looking at the Lowrance Elite 3x or the Lowrance Elite 3x DSI. I'm thinking I am primarily going to use if for bottom comp and finding structure. I might even use it to find some bait fish. For my kayak what are your alls opinions? Thanks.

Major Difference In Cheap Reels And Expensive Ones (Other Than Gear Ratio)
I like the where this thread has gone. It's more of an investment if you buy a good quality reel vs a cheapo. I am a creature of habit and I like for stuff to be the same, so it sounds like to be I should go ahead a get a nice 6.6:1 or a 7.3:1 bait caster and call it a day. I also just learned that tackle warehouse has a demo program which I am pretty pumped about.

Major Difference In Cheap Reels And Expensive Ones (Other Than Gear Ratio)
That's the hardest thing about balancing cost vs quality. For example (completely my opinion) easton axis arrows are expensive but not very good, black eagle arrows rampage are almost $4-$5 less per arrow and made so much better. How can I pick up a reel in the store and be able to feel and notice the quality vs it just being expensive. I messed with a quantium smoke speed freak spinning reel and it felt really nice. It was smooth, well balanced and had a 6.2:1 gear ratio. I just feel like especially with the internal stuff on bait casters and spinners it would be easy to get fooled by a polished turd.

Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
That is the truth there. I can't tell you how many times I have almost broke a Rod because of stuff hanging over haha I would not like having a $150 dollar Rod broke because of a small tree

Major Difference In Cheap Reels And Expensive Ones (Other Than Gear Ratio)
Thank you. That helps out a lot. Now that I'm thinking about my fishing obsession in the same catagory as my bow hunting obsession I'm probably about to upgrade my reels. I have a Cabelas spinning set up 7MF with a Cabelas pro guide 3000 9bb 5.3:1. I don't really like the Rod but the reel feels fine any thoughts on spinning set ups.

Major Difference In Cheap Reels And Expensive Ones (Other Than Gear Ratio)
new2bc4bass thank you very much that makes perfect sense, do you think in the long run I would benefit more from the 6.6 or 7. Or are they so similar it isn't going to matter? For that fact thanks everyone for helping me put this in perspective. I'm hopeful going to haul in a nice one in the am.

Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
I like my atak because I can stand up and fish like I'm on any regular boat. I like great statement sir. I need to broaden my set up it sounds like. Maybe go from 2 rods to atleast 4

Major Difference In Cheap Reels And Expensive Ones (Other Than Gear Ratio)
I have a Abu Garcia Black Max 2 and I love it. All the other reels I have felt feel pretty much the same way. I bought this thing at Cabelas on sale for $32.99. I have messed around with some other reels and I can't feel or tell a $100 dollar difference. The Abu Garcia Revo SX (black and red one 6.4:1 I think) I can't really notice the difference between the Revo and the Black Max. I have been thinking about getting a *** *** either 7.1 or 8.1 but it's $175. I need some help please haha
