  1. Hi guys, new to the site, and wanted to see if there was anyone in my neck of the woods on here that I could trade info with. Little back story: I bass fished a lot as a kid here in CFL on a friend of mine's lake, and loved it. Caught some lunkers out of that lake. He moved away from there, and being a 10 year old kid, access to the water was pretty scarce. Anyway, fast forward 17 years and now I've got a house right up the street from that lake with it's own little 6 acre honey hole in the back yard. I moved in in January, and my buddy brought his pond crawler over (I had to clear a path to the water, and bank fishing is out of the question), I caught a 3 pounder that first trip out, and I was hooked again. I got my own little pond crawler, and have pulled 8 fish 5lbs or better since, with the biggest being about 8, and plenty of fish in the 1.5-3 lb range out of it. I know that I can't just fish my lake to death, so I bought a 14' jon boat, and built it out to my liking. I'm lucky enough to own my own business, which currently is paying the bills, and also giving me the free time to fish quite a bit. Summer is my off season business wise, so I was out on the water a lot. My missus is pretty cool about me fishing, and I guess I'm lucky in that sense too. Anyway, I fished the St Johns from Lake Monroe to Lake Beresford (putting in at either Blue Springs or Highbanks), the Wekiva river, and kind of touring around CFL checking out some of the awesome lakes we have here. Winter Park Chain, Butler Chain, Harris Chain (a tough one), Lake Dias in Deland. I've got to fish private Lake Winnemesette a few times, and had the best bass fishing day of my life on one of them. Really just looking for guys/gals that are in the area to talk fishing with. Thanks guys, and I look forward to meeting ya'll.
  2. I fished a lot this summer, fishing the St. Johns from lake Monroe to lake Beresford, and the Wekiva as well. Fished a lot of lakes too with mixed results, but I usually manage to at least put a few in the boat. Throughout the Summer, I was throwing soft plastic buzz style frogs (Zoom Horny Toad/ SK Rage Tail, green pumpkin/pearl belly) early in the morning or the last hour of light, and depending on the day, would kill it with weightless soft plastics rigged texas style. Stick baits, trick worms, ect. Junebug or black/blue in dark water, watermelon red in clear. Been recently fishing Lake Monroe, as I've been told that it's a killer lake if you can figure it out. Caught some nice fish out of it, but not in numbers. The past few weeks though, I've been in a slump. I haven't been catching anything out of the St. Johns, and haven't been catching much out on the lakes either. I've tried switching up my approach plenty, and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any advice on fishing the St Johns or Lake Monroe would be greatly appreciated, as those are the waters closest to home (well, almost) and I want to figure them out because I know the fish are there. I'd love to hear about any other good lakes in the area, I'm always looking for something new to fish. Thanks in advance guys, I look forward to learning a thing or two here.
