Anyone In The Central Fl Area? Volusia, Seminole, Lake, Orange Counties

Featured Replies

I fished a lot this summer, fishing the St. Johns from lake Monroe to lake Beresford, and the Wekiva as well. Fished a lot of lakes too with mixed results, but I usually manage to at least put a few in the boat. Throughout the Summer, I was throwing soft plastic buzz style frogs (Zoom Horny Toad/ SK Rage Tail, green pumpkin/pearl belly) early in the morning or the last hour of light, and depending on the day, would kill it with weightless soft plastics rigged texas style. Stick baits, trick worms, ect. Junebug or black/blue in dark water, watermelon red in clear. Been recently fishing Lake Monroe, as I've been told that it's a killer lake if you can figure it out. Caught some nice fish out of it, but not in numbers.

The past few weeks though, I've been in a slump. I haven't been catching anything out of the St. Johns, and haven't been catching much out on the lakes either. I've tried switching up my approach plenty, and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any advice on fishing the St Johns or Lake Monroe would be greatly appreciated, as those are the waters closest to home (well, almost) and I want to figure them out because I know the fish are there. I'd love to hear about any other good lakes in the area, I'm always looking for something new to fish.

Thanks in advance guys, I look forward to learning a thing or two here.

I think it might be related to the change in weather. Past couple weeks has seen some cool weather, so that could be locking the fish up. I did a lot of fishing in South Florida but I recently moved to your area and haven't been able to get out much. Don't have much to offer for advice, but I'm sure things will turn around if you keep getting out there.
