  1. Took the week off with the youngen since he was out of school and went off to our favorite lake yesterday fish were in about 2 ft of water , way up in the salad . We managed to pull a dozen or so out . I got one bigger than this and i keep gettin a file error when i view the disc . this fish is over 19 inches .I ain't too good at guessing weight so i wont try .
  2. Man i thought that was a Mississippi thang with the salt .. My high bloodpressure insists on having salt with my beer .
  3. Yes ... weight on bottom and make a loop up the line a few inches long to tie the hook to . like a dropshot rig . In swift or hangy spots i tie the weight with light line so it will breakoff in case of hangups .
  4. I fish a lot of vegetation that a troll motor wont touch . I use a dried bamboo pole about 2 1/4 inches in diameter .. works perfect .
  5. for sure not my ex wife ... too many teeth ;D
  6. I use cut shad and live bluegill , perch , mudcat ( bullhead i think ) goldfish if i can get them
  7. ROLO , I had it wrong . Arkabuttla produced the state record black crappie . Enid does hold the state record white crappie . here is a link to the Mississippi fisheries website . http://www.mdwfp.com/Level2/Fisheries/pdf/recordFish.pdf If this is the same fish that is the world record , what does the Mississippi river have to do with it ? I wonder how accurate some of these old records are ?
  8. the one about the dynamite is enforced severely in my neck of the woods , and it works to .
  9. RW , that works for me .Grenada is half way between us, and the spawn is not too far off . Week days are best , weekends are always crowded in spring . It would be a good chance to pick your brain about the smallmouth fishing on Pickwik .
  10. RW , a 3 pounder in 15 feet of water hooked up to 12 ft graphite pole and 4 pound line would probably make you pee your panties . LOL
  11. Like RW said the Mississippi record is over 5 pounds and a 12 incher down here is just a nice crappie . In a place like Minnesota a 12 incher is probably a bigun . We have a 12 minimum on Grenada Lake . I feel for sure the next world record will come from one of the North Mississippi flood control reservoirs Sardis , Arkabuttla , Enid or Grenada The Mississippi record over 5 pounds came from Arkabuttla in 1957 i think .
  12. I got some neighbours that do it cause they can't catch them on hooks like i do .
  13. I've eatten them on the grill , they ain't too bad . Have heard of people boiling them till the meat starts coming off the bones , pick out the meat and scrambling them with eggs like salmon out of a can . Served with hot biscutts and molases it can't be too bad ..
  14. The ZOOM HORNEY TOAD hooks work ok , i personally like Ultra Point EWG in 5/0 . I don't remember what size the ZOOM TOAD hooks are but they are big . maybe 6/0
