Can we talk about finesse Casting rigs?
Interesting to hear your perspective. I've been fishing spinning gear my whole life so casting gear is clumsy to me. When I was fishing alot I could be 50 feet off the edges of the lilly pads and put a cast within inches of the pads. I'd almost always know when to expect a bite. I guess up north with the clearer water long casts reign supreme.

Can we talk about finesse Casting rigs?
Just curious why do you want to finesse fish on casting rigs? I'm from SE Michigan and I've really resisted adding casting rods to my arsenal for the longest time. I finally did but those will be my crankbait, spinnerbait, jerkbait, chatterbait rods. I couldn't imagine wanting to throw senkos or small finesse crankbaits on baitcast gear. For the size fish we have up north I don't think it makes sense.

New gear test- Thanks for your advice
For under $200 you could find a Daiwa Tatula on ebay and a Dobyns Fury 705CB with a discount code for signing up on a mailing list. The Zillion was twice as much as the Fury but the blank is about twice as thick as the Fury and they feel about the same weight. It's gonna be a fun fishing season with all this new gear. It had been about a decade to my last big upgrade but I finally finished paying child support

New gear test- Thanks for your advice
Got to take 2 Tatula 100 reels on their maiden voyage today. Wow are those smooth reels for less than $100. I am by no means a baitcast reel expert. Not a single backlash and the wind was blowing 15mph+. Even kinda tested it throwing straight into the wind not an issue. First time out for my Dobyns Fury 705CB rod. Perfect lipless rod. First time out for my Daiwa Zillion rod. Feels like a million bucks or should I say zillionAnd that 10 pound Yozuri hybrid felt great. I just wanted to give you all a shout out for your input in helping me put together some great set ups. That's not even including the NRX rods yet. I haven't fished those yet. Today was about the casting rods. Two thumbs up!!

Cranking Rods
Have you picked up a Rage yet? Those handle designs were a deal breaker for me. Bought 2 and sold them both.

$250 M/F casting rod
I'll have to say the G Loomis Xpeditor-program warranty is worth the cost of buying G Loomis. I broke off the tip of a $300 rod, completely my fault and for $100 it's replaced shipped to my door granted you have to send the old model back. No receipt needed, no hassels.

Cranking Rods
I'll 2nd Dobyns Fury 705CB for $110. Sign up for a mailing list at American Legacy or Monster it's $25 off. That's the route to go.

$250 M/F casting rod
Someone on this site said G Loomis is the standard for power. I do believe St Croix fishes a little on the heavy side.

Help needed! Rod in cart!
Looking at my 2nd purchase of a NRX in a short period. Good price! I was looking at getting another 872s. It seems to be the perfect spinning rod for Michigan's big lakes and clear water. Anybody have anything to say good, bad or indifferent? My only hesitation is I have not fished with the first rod yet. Feels awesome though.

Casting rod 73MMF vs 7MF?
The 7'3" MMF would be a good crankbait rod. You want the Fast or Xfast action for fishing senkos.

Drop Shot Reel
Sweet. You got some great looking gear. What do you have about $2,000/mo rod/reel budget?

Is that a JDM reel?

Which bfs rod to get between these 3 choices...?
I saw this post on TT. I've heard good things about Phenix customer support. Here's further proof. http://www.tackletour.net/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=68803&sid=7fb33250cb674452890405e05dccab47

Question on Dobyns Champion 682sf
I just tied a small 3/16th ounce jig on my 6'9" ML Villian yesterday. Saying that I've heard that Abu Garcia runs on the heavier side of power and I'd say the Dobyns is towards the lighter side. It may be a hair light but you should be able to fish 1/8th ounce tube jigs okay.

Yozuri hybrid and yozuri hydrid ultra soft
If I like my 6 pound test spool I may need to hit you up for a few thousand yards. That stuff is hard to find.
