Hook Eye Woes
Somebody posted a tip recently and said when they cut off the old line they keep a small tag of the old knot and push it near that gap. I don't know if I'm describing that correctly but it sounded good.

That's awesome.

Bandit crank baits
Yes decent crankbaits for the price. Maybe replace the hooks. Chartreuse rootbeer splatter back or whatever it's called

Good finesse rod?
How much are you willing to spend? I'm thinking a GLX would pair up nice with that. Or an Avid X.

Starting Lineup For Smallies
Water temps were 48 on St Clair on Friday and I was surprised how hard they were hitting lipless baits.

First Ned Rig smallmouth
Bud there are a bunch of pinned posts on it. Plenty of info out there. Looks like a largemouth

New to Smallies
Smallmouth are more bottom oriented. They tend to feed down not up like largemouth. Just when you think you're on then you're not especially in the summer because they roam to follow baitfish. The water is more clear up north thats why people use spinning gear and lighter line up here but casting gear has its place too.

First trip out on St Clair this year
Got a chance to reel in a few nice ones. Enjoy some smallie porn. Top one was 4-5, bottom one 4-9. Didn't weigh the double probably 3 something.

First Ned Rig smallmouth
I caught my first smallmouth on a NED rig yesterday on St Clair. So much for being a little fish bait. The fish weighed in at 4-9.

$160-$200 Rod comparisons
Given the fact the Dobyns Champion 7'MH is $50 more than the Avid X I would expect it to be a better rod. If it's anywhere close in comparison I'd just go with the Avid X.

What about a G Loomis IMX for under $200? I can tell you how if you're interested.

Tube Fishing
What's your budget? I'll give you some ideas. Also do you have any preferences to manufacturer say like St Croix rods and Shimano reels. I don't care it's your dime. I'll just give you some advice.

Talk me out of a Mojo, please.
"Reel" men buy NRX. Is that helping?

Yo-Zuri Hybrid...is it worth it?
This topic has been covered quite a bit lately. Use the search function and you'll get some suggestions. I'll add I bought Yozuri hybrid recently and have been pleased.

Regular rod taper question.
I asked the same question of the Daiwa rods recently too. Definitely sounds more like a M to MF.
-
What to toss?
Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, dark color jigs on wood.
-
Tubes in clear water
Have you guys ever tried a 1/16th ounce jighead with a tube? It gives a real enticing fall like a dying bait fish. I like fishing that way near deep lily pads and the breaklines near weed edges.

whopper plopper?
Thanks Kevin. And for the record I thought joining this website was going to be a good thing but really it just makes me realize the lures I need to buy

Cold Post Spawners
Regardless of fronts there will always be fish needing to eat. Target the active ones with a squarebill or chatterbait.

Swimming a jerkbait
To me it just sounds like the fish wanted a faster cadence than what you were using.
