Otters
i have never had a problem with Otters but one of the private lakes i fish in has 2 or 3 beavers....i kinda like them since they have been chewing trees down and they land in the water giving me more cover to fish 8-)....but do you guys think that they can be the same as Otters and kind of hurt the fish population? b/c we used to catch ALOT of bass over 5 and 6 pounds in that lake but since i have noticed the beavers there i havnt caught a bass 5+ pounds....could that be b/c of the beavers??...thanks...

Biggest fish of '07 so far...
i know its kind of early to be askin' since we are only just over a month into 2007. but whats yalls biggest bass of '07 so far? also what kind of lures and presentations have you guys been using? i have caught just a couple little guys back in January. It has gotten really cold here in VA lately so i havnt been able to go out since all the lakes and ponds i fish at are frozen over. haha but i caught all of mine on jigs in deep cover and also bringing a spinner bait really slow about a foot off the bottom through some deep water....seemed to work for me...what about you guys??

Size of the Lake
i fish alot of different sizes of ponds and lakes...to tell the truth i have caught most of my bigger bass out of the smallest ones i fish...i think that the size of the lake doesnt mean there is big fish, i think that the habitat, and amount of fish, in that specific lake or pond will effect how long your fish will live and how big they will get based on how much food they are able to get....i know of alot of lakes that have way too many bluegill or crappie in them because there is no catfish or not enough predator fish to make the bluegill population at a steady rate...thats where the fisherman come in and try to manage their local or private lake or pond to make sure everything is equal fair amount of diff. species of fish for the habitat to function correctly.....if you ask me the more bass you have then that means there is going to be a limited food supply...my reason for thinking this is because i have fished many overpopulated lakes and i catch fish with the head and mouth of a 5 or 6 pounder but they are not fat at all its just a small sliver of stomach and not much beef on them...but i am a young angler and i know i dont know everything in the world so i might be wrong...so correct me if you think im wrong on this subject....tight lines everyone!!!

5in soft plastics too big for around a 12in bass?
i agree with burley on this one...i really dont think size matters to fish based on the fact that i know people who have caught crappie on 6" worms...i have smaller fish attack my lure that is 2x's bigger than they are....tight lines...
