  1. i agree with Wayne P.....the rain will wash alot of food into the water for the fish so they should feed pretty good during and right after rain...i always have luck fishing in the rain...if its not too heavy to where it runs me back on home...but fishing before, during, and after rain are some of the best times i have ever fished...hope this helps...good luck!
  2. very nice story!! sounds familar around my house hold!
  3. very few each year...it isnt a good feeling when you do accidently kill one either .....if one does swallow the hook like you said one of yours did i usually jus cut the line...i do believe they survive too...i heard that the hook will eventually rust and it will pop out leaving no harm to the fish...i hope that is true!
  4. Welcome to the best fishin board ever!! i would try a zoom buzz frog across the tops of the pads early in the morning and right before dark...i do this in the ponds i fish with pads in them and it almost always produces a 5+ pounder....good luck!!
  5. thats a monster...i would deffinately make the net guy swim back to the dock and hitch a ride home!!
  6. man that is too bad....that was a hell of a fish!
  7. What is your favorite catfish bait or what works best for you guys??? I know alotr of people use chicken livers but i have never really had much luck on those......the bait i rely on and use the most is clam snouts....they stink and they release alot of oils in the water which seems to attract them good...also the simple hot dog dipped in stink bait 8-)hahaha....what do you guys like to use the most??
  8. when i fish pads i have used senkos right on the pad line and it has produced good fish for me....i also ALWAYS bring a buzz frog slowly across the tops of them....to do this you have got to have a heavy action rod and very strong line to yank em out of the pads....i have always used 20 lb braid to do this but i have even got broke off with that....my cousin has a reel spooled with 50 lb power pro which is specifically for the lilly pad fishing and he says it works really well to yank em out.....good luck
  9. i usually use smaller tubes around 3 or 3.5 inches on one of the new ikey head jig heads....also i use smaller spinner baits, senkos, small jerkbaits, beetle spins.....and any other kind of spinners you can catch em on.....
  10. thats a nice fish man...i have fished for peacocks once while visiting my grandparents in FL....i miss fishin for em cus it was sooo much fun!!! im hoping to make it back down there again to fish for them again!!!
  11. thats an excelent fish man!!! im sure she survived if she took off on her own while you were reviving her...again congrats on a great fish!!
  12. I recently had a great outing wading the rivanna river....me and a friend got on the 4 wheelers and rode through the woods to the river....we usuely wade either up or down stream for a couple hours so i know the area well and the holes and good fishin spots....well we got in the river and got to the first hole and i caught one nice 17 inch smallmouth and about 10 more smaller ones with some small bluegill and river chub mixed in....so i caught about 12 fish in the one hole!! as we moved on we were catchin smaller fish but alot of them....we waded for about 2 hrs and in that time i caught 35 smallmouth, 5 bluegill and 4 river chub.....so catching 44 fish in 2 hrs was a hole lot of fun!!! and to make it better with the competition with my buddy he only caught 10 fish...so i had to rub it in....wish i had some pics of the bigger 17b incher but i dont carry the camera with me in river....good luck to everyone on your next trip!!!
