What your favorite, go 2 Peacock bass lure?
Fresh live Shiners or Blue Gills, never fail. Caught this one on Saturday with a large shiner hooked through the nostril (to keep it as alive as long as possible). The more it moves the better the chance for a reaction bite.

Playing "hookie" with some fatties.
Thanks for the kind words fellas. I was afraid that my lake was no good anymore. There was alot more bass in there two years ago when I first moved in. They used school in groups of 4-5 all around the lake. Their sizes ranged from 2-6 lbs and there were about six different schools chasing the bluegills up the banks. I never see that anymore. :-/ Maybe these fatties I caught ate up their compition. ;D

Playing "hookie" with some fatties.
Hi everyone. Due to recent minor surgery I am stuck at home for the next week for recovery. I had been bored out of my mind for the first two days and all wacked out on painkillers. I have been able to walk since Monday and of course the condition outside was perfect for fishing. I decided to grant myself an hour of "ME' time and get heck out of my house. I caught some blue gill for bait, and walked over to the sweet spot on my lake. I was not there 5 minutes when this mama inhales this poor bluegill. After a short fight I brought her up to shore and was amazed at how big her mouth was. I could only imagine how big hse was before she spawned. I ran out to the parking lot and found some one to to take my picture before i ran her back to the water. I was so pleased by that I catch I released all my bluegills and called it a day. ;D Today I had the "itch" as well so I thought I would give my self an hour again and see what happens. After catching my fourth bluegill, I see this shadow comin up the shore. I switched rods tossed the bluegill in front of it and BAM I hooked another fattie. Not as big as yesterday but it will do. After that I was in a good mood. I was thinking of getting out of the sun but since my "hour" was not up, I went back to my other spot to give it shot. Once there, there were no fish in sight. After 10 mins. the heat, sun, and the painkillers were not mixing well. I was about to reel in my last bluegill when I see that old familiar shape come in for the deep. She circled twice before going in for the kill. She jumped three times before I got her to shore. I was fading fast so I took these shots, let her go, and dragged my butt home before I passed out. I am telling myself that I won't go down tomorrow, but as you all know when you get that "itch" you gotta scratch it. ;D Tight lines everyone.

Florida Shiner Fishing
To make them last longer hook'em through the upper lip through the nostril, try to keep them in the water and not recast them as much as possible. Let them do there own thing but make sure they don't swim under structures or you will only get hooked up.

a good morning in Cutler Bay, finally. (Peacock Bass Rock!)
No, actually I was in Pinecrest for the Peacock, near the kmart on US1. I also caught a few Oscars from there too. I was surprised because I didn't think they would go for shinners.

a good morning in Cutler Bay, finally. (Peacock Bass Rock!)
Hi everyone. I has been a while since I have posted anything or have been able to go fishing anyway. I went out early and tried hitting up some canals around town that I have been checkin out for Peacock Bass. I got some shinners and hit the spots. It started off slow at first, but once the sun hit the water it was on. I caught 12 in total all about the same size between 1 1/2 to 2 lbs and one 4 lbs. It is true what everyone says about them, they are quick and hit hard. The screen on my camera is broken so I wasn't sure if I was taking pictures or not and of course the 4 lbs that i caught in the morning didn't show up > but at least I have some to share. The Bass I caught when I came home in my lake. I had a two dead shinners left in my bucket and I was tossing them out to a small school and I caught one 2lber. I had someone that was walking by take a pic. When i toss him back in, out of no where this momma comes out from the deep. I hook my last shinner and toss it out in front of her and BAM she whacks it. ;D. I was very pleased

Please help identify
Myan chiclid. When they are mating their colors really intensify into bright orange and blue. They are great fighters and will go for anything from bread balls, nightcrawlers, to live shinners. When you set the hook they just take off! When you reel them in you would think they were twice the size they really are.

Wildest Thing?
1st- I caught a Myan Chiclid the size of my open hand and as I was reeling it in a bass "T Boned" it from the side. It was trying to eat it sideways but the chiclid was bigger than the bass's mouth could open, being it was half the size of the bass! I let out my line to see what would happen but the bass kept trying to swallow it side ways and take it into the deep. It was very cool to watch how determined that bass as to eat it. Eventually the chiclid unhooked itself ( or I tore its lip off) but the bass kept up after it. I don't know if the bass was successful or not but she was definatly hungry or really ticked. ;D 2nd- I was fishing from shore by some reads and I heard some splashing I look and there is a nice bass (2-3lbs) that looks like it was snagged on reed. I thought it could've been the fish that had gotten away earlier in the day and maybe the hook is what got snagged. :-/ So I take my shoe off and head into the muck to maybe save the fish. When I get to him he wasn't snagged but instead he was in a clear gallon ziplock bag! He must have gone in after some smallfish and and couldn't get out. He was the easiest bass I ever caught and if I didn't practice C&R he would've been bagged and ready to go. ;D

Nova Bedding Bluegill
As hawgcaller says, they are GOD's swim bait. Catch some up and use them for bait (if its legal in your area). You will not regret it!

Finally caught a good one
It's awsome when you catch a fish that size on a lure for the first time. Congrats

A good morning in Cutler Bay.
About 2 years ago for that exact reason.

11-3 bed fish!
DDDAAAMMMNNN!!!!! That's how you do it! I've caught all my PB'd with live Bluegills. I love using them but it takes forever sometimes to round up a bucket of about six. How do you catch them?

A good morning in Cutler Bay.
Went out at dawn today to residential lake by my house. The bite was slow at first but picked up around 8am. I was using live shiners for bait and I caught the first two from a school that just showed up. The Peacock I caught while it was bedding on a baby bass rattle trap I found hanging from a tree last week. It was the first time I ever caught anything with a rattle trap. ;D
