  1. Last fall I asked about scales and the general consensus was Xtools is a good scale and I actually am in the process of ordering one from bass pro shops tomorrow, hope that it is accurate for the $70 that I am paying. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&partNumber=89336
  2. caught a 15" largemouth a few days ago with an eye that apparently was hooked previously, the eye was gross as hell but the fish was healthy and swam away fine ... I don't know how well I could swim with a hole in my eye, haha
  3. Rock bass are very fun to catch with an ultra-lite rod as they fight like crazy and they are just as good eating, however they are everywhere in the WI northwoods. These past weeks I wasted many minnows going for crappie when a rock bass will come out of no where and get hooked. I've even caught them yesterday with a #4 Mepps Aglia, haha, it was almost bigger than the fish.
  4. I love crappie fishing and all I use is a live minnow with either a 1/16 chartreuse jig or a sinker attached 12 inches up the line, I attach a bobber to the height of the water. It works very well for me during spawning season
  5. I have a premier UL paired with a symetre 750... total weight= 8.5 ounces or just over a half pound. When I switch to that after using my 7' avid baitcaster I don't even realize I'm holding a fishing rod.
  6. i have both a 2500 and a 750 symetre on st. croix avids. If you are looking for a cheaper version, I would go with the St Croix premier, excellent rod. I bought a premier ultra lite for $70. The st croix website has a very good rod selector. brad
  7. not a rod, but my dad once dove down and, unbeknownst to my uncle, placed a full beer can on my uncle's hook... to this day, he thinks he caught a beer
  8. hi, i've been showing people the picture of the 20" smallie i caught a few weeks ago on 4 lb test w/ ul and everyone asks the weight. I don't think it is a true trophy fish unless you take the setup into consideration. so, i was wondering if anyone that has a lot of experience with weights of fish to help me with a figure (the online fishing calculators give such a wide variety of numbers) ... the pic of it is in my profile pic to the left (it was extremely meaty) and it is 20" long, 14" girth... i was thinking about 5 lbs thank you brad
  9. good job, it's good to see that you are rewarded for something you love to do with something that will truly help you in the long run, the cost of college is getting rediculous Good Luck Brad
  10. check out my crappies... they eat minnows and are a lot of fun to watch attack their prey. They have plenty of room to swim.
