  1. My boats just a 1997 tracker targa 18, I like the boat alot but wish i would of waited a couple of years longer, the new ones have a welded hull that actually looks like fiberglass its so smooth plus they have added alot more storage and double minnow wells their nice!! I live in South Dakota i needed a deep V boat becouse it gets cold and it gets d**n windy!! I dont like to get that wet, and i do fish some local walleye tournys also. We get alot of bass boats swamped on the missouri river during tournements it can get scary on a bad day. I am hoping some day to be able to afford another boat for fair day fishing like a Triton or something. I have had no problems with it since i baught it new in 97
  2. I agree, Id look also for any kind of rocky areas on the bank dropping into the water that might warm up in the sun enough to attract fish to their heat, try S L O W fishin a wieghtless lizard or craw, I find those work well in my holes simular to this one at this time of year.
  3. Had a simular thing happen during a tournement up here in South Dakota during the early spring with cold water temps. We had about givin up by 1:30pm didnt have a nibble all day, everyone we talked to couldnt get bit. with about an hour to go and no fish in the well i thought well lets go over to this little curved indention off the main lake, its sandy with a little bit of weed and a bush or two. I tied on a lousy chartreuse jig,the kind you use to fish walleyes, 1/8th oz and stuck a chartreuse minnow body with a flipper tail and on the first cast i caught a 2 lb smallie with about a dozen chasing him!! I just about crapped my lucky boxers! The non boater i drew for the tournement and i both had a limit in 45min, but he had more weight then i. I was starting to panick, i own the boat i cant let a non boater opponent beat me off the back of my own boat!!! With 5 min to get back i made one more cast and got bit hard! that 3.5 pound smallie not only won me the tourney but got me an xtra 150.00 for big bass also, it was freakin incredible! an example of the worst fishin day ever to greatest ever in 1- 45min period. my opponent got second a 3 oz difference but we beat every body else by at least 8 lbs!! that last cast made the 3 oz difference i needed, but i give God all the credit im usually not that lucky on my own.... lol
  4. i need to replace all the batterys in my tracker. cant find a consumer report on the best, most durable, with the longest operating time deep cycle battery anywhere. any ??? suggestions
  5. this is my biggest problem to overcome on any body of water. without expensive electronics in my boat. it is very difficult to pinpoint bass suspended when there are other spiecies of fish in the lake, such as walleye, croppie northerns carp etc, i think im going to have to spend alot of money on a trustworthy fish finder.
  6. After the big draw down last year though, will things change? The water level has stayed nearly the same since the irregation stopped last fall. So do you think the fish will be used to the new water levels and move back up untill they start irregating again? Im not sure what to do to start the spring season.
  7. ill try to give a little more info. this lake in South Dakota Im fishin is down aprox 15 to 25 feet due to drought and irregation, weve had zero moisture. i fish the bassin america tournements and this spring when we start fishin, the water temps will be in the 40's most of the shallow bays are smaller or out of the water. 50 percent of the banks are clean sand, no structure, just the declines into water from 8 to 35 feet with some uderwater humps and flat table tops ,all sand. The other part of the lake is rocky, boulder type dropping to 25 to 60 feet of water rapidly, some rocky banks are covered with rough ,sharp rock chunks, bigger than large gravel. This is all near the dam end of the lake. like i said pounding th banks during the spring and summer has been tough, I used to key off on smallies early by throwing a jerk bait or rattle trap, maybe a plastic bait but something has changed, im having trouble finding smallies and largemout near the shore,in the rocks or sand. As for vegitation forget about it!!!! Even in the summer my top water bite has almost disappeared. what am i doing wrong< my confidence is swaggering!!!! :-/ The lake is called ANGUSTORA LAKE in South Dakota if someone wants to track down a map of it or something for a better source of topigraphical info

  9. I am fishing a manmade lake and the water level has dropped severely. The flats and vegetation are out of the water. The dam area consists mostly of rocky banks and sheer cliff dropoffs into anywhere from 15 feet to 60 feet. The rest of the lake consists of sandy banks and bays with scattered rocky points and banks. Pounding the banks has been unproductive using rattletraps spinner baits and other normal baits. Where have the small and large mouth gone? Where do I start looking?
