Hi y'all- Was just wondering whether someone could elaborate on the differences in action between fine cut and regular/thick cut skirt material besides obvious bulk. Couldn't find much information online. And is there a similar difference between these two cuts with rubber as well as silicone? I.e. are the differences the same across the different materials. Deciding whether to switch my finesse jigs to regular skirt material. Thanks!

Yeah, it looks like an incredible deal but the size kinda freaks me out. I've never owned a BC under 7' and I've struggled with every one I've borrowed. It's probably the best option though. Gotta sleep on it

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm gonna try to find a retailer that has the Bucoo and Mojo and test them out side by side. I'm a tall guy and prefer longer rods (7'3" is my 7') so the 7'4" M/M Mojo might have to be the ticket. I wasn't familiar with the Bucoo's but they sound really fantastic so worth a test drive. I really like the Fenwicks for multi-species/trout but their offerings has a real gap between 85 bucks and almost 200 on the casting side. None of the cheaper ones really meet what I need.

Yeah it is garbage, but I buy some of it for fun bank fishing. I manage to lose hardbaits like none other when bankfishing so those $1.99 spinnerbaits are fine. My store is now carrying lunker hunt crankbaits for like $3. I picked up a couple in a RBT finish. They've got really nice finishes on them and seem to be decently constructed but yet to test them out. It's hard to find convincing RBT patterns which is a common springtime forage here.

Look around if there's another one nearby. One near me in central NJ stinks and one right across the river is pretty nice.

Looking for a new (casting) rod that can handle finesse/lighter crankbaits like Shad Raps. I like to throw lots of cranks in the 1/4-5/16 range and my current squarebill rod (***) is way too stiff and casts them terribly. I love spinning outfits but crankbaits are the only thing I hate to throw on spinning tackle for some reason. I tested out a St. Croix Mojo 7'3" M a while ago that seemed a lot softer but I was throwing a 1/2 oz squarebill so couldn't really assess. Looking for something under $200, $150 preferably. Really can't find a moderate action rod that loads decently with only 5/16. Any help would be appreciated

Regarding Dick's? No, in store. I was in there a couple days ago interviewing for a summer job and they had $1 packs of BBB with lots of senkos and tubes. Mind you this is PA so YMMV. They also had YoZuri hardbaits at $6 when you bought a few, and some promo on Strike King crankbaits and Havoc/Gulp soft plastics. It changes every week but the BBB deal seems constant. Also had some deal on those LiveTarget topwater sunfishes and their frogs, can't remember the detail. Dick's sells a lot of low quality trash but you can find some great deals. I don't buy much though cuz my team discounts usually exceed the sales.They also had a great deal on Missile Baits.

Yeah, Dick's Sporting is scary this time of the year. Too many sales. I walked out the other day with a dozen bags of Big Bite Baits- $1 apiece. They're so cheap for fun fishing and not terrible action I just placed a TWH order for a bunch (30) of the Santone finesse jigs- excited to try them out b/c the Jewel redesign isn't sitting with me well.

I've been fishing mini jigs like the Strike King Bitsy Flip for river smallies forever and always have a tube tied on. Just hit me; has anyone ever used a tube as a jig trailer? The tubes I have are 3.5" and on the mini jigs, the body extends almost an inch past the skirt. Do they work better if the tube appendages are relatively even with the skirt? thanks,

What lakes are you planning on running in Jersey? Aka horsepower restrictions?

I'm a pretty tall individual but I want something fuel efficent and easy to store with all the perks of a glass boat. There's a lot of 14' glass boats on CL which makes me wonder if they're really usable/feasible. I'm looking at one with a 60 and the owner claims he can push it around 50.. I'm also looking at a far better kept one with a newer engine but its only a 30.

Another question, Have any of you owned a 14 foot fiberglass boat? I realize I could just convert a jonboat but there's something special about having a pre-designed setup with a wheel, livewell, and the added stability. How do they ride? Not planning to take it out on the Great Lakes or anything but wondering how disastrous they are in anything but glassy water.. I'm looking at two in the $2500-3000 price range, they're definitely older boats but seemed to be in decent shape. I really wish they kept making them, seems like a nifty part of the market they're missing.

Not much lost but a good story.. Jumped out of my kayak for a quick break midday. 48 F and rainy/strong wind, 45 degree water, pretty miserable. Stepped back into the kayak, lost my balance and flipped it in 5-6 feet of water. Absolutely freezing but I'm already wet, so why not go get all my stuff?... went back in and recovered all my combos, backpack, plano boxes, etc. My jig box opened up but they are some of my most prized possessions so I kept swimming around the bottom till I found 90% of them. My trick was stomping around till I got stuck by one barefoot and then dive in and nab it lol... Shocked I found them but it took me 15 minutes in near freezing water. To top it off I was out with a buddy and I didn't have keys to the truck... Stayed out on the water for seven more hours freezing my a** off in wet jeans.. Most miserable I've ever been, shaking uncontrollably, not recommended. My phone was dead from water damage (was getting a new one anyways) and lost a couple jigs, but otherwise survived.

I had one other question for boaters: what do I legally need to run a 10+ HP bass boat on the Delaware? I've been reading up on the boat license and safety certificate, etc, and I'm totally confused. I'm about to purchase it but it will be NC registered (college). I hope to launch sometimes above the tidal line if that helps. I guess the question is what do I actually need?

Central Jersey here also- I pretty much only run the Delaware between Trenton and Lambertville (live 5 minutes from washington crossing) and also had some decent luck at Spruce. I'm pretty new to the area so what's some other decent spots?

Yeah, I was stupid for somewhat believing it initially, although it wasn't a slam dunk scam. Selling a 1996 Nitro for two grand isn't the most preposterous thing, despite the condition. If it was a new Ranger or something, I wouldn't have even e-mailed her. I thank everyone for their help and hope this thread is a good warning for anyone who runs into this.

They sent me a pretty realistic looking invoice from "eBay" this morning. Email address was a slight giveaway. Thanks all for the help with this. I would have quickly figured it out when she sent the invoice, but still appreciate everything. I've heard of lots of craigslist scams but this is a new one to me.. I'm sure it's been successful before

She claims she turned it over to eBay Motors but I can't find a listing and I didn't even know they would take vehicles/boats and sell them for people. I want to pursue this cautiously though because if it's actually real, I hit the jackpot.

It's 20 years old but looks like it barely ever hit the water, definitely garage kept, seats and carpet look like they just left the factory. Motor's an old Mercury/Tracker 120 but enough for me.

Hahaha, all online. Apparently sitting somewhere in the Midwest. That's a huge red flag for me, but for 2 grand, it's not like I'm gonna get the red carpet treatment on anything in that range. I'm usually a pretty pessimistic person but my gut tells me this is legit. She gave me a very convincing and long backstory being a widow selling her husband's old boat and how she had to move states for medical and family care. The boat's probably worth double at least but I'm somewhat convinced she doesn't understand the market value and this is the most hassle-free way of unloading the boat. Who knows though. Once I get an invoice, I should be able to confirm everything with eBay.

Hi y'all, I've been in the market for an older, budget friendly small glass boat, and I encountered a '96 Nitro 170 on Craigslist in shockingly nice condition for a very low price (~2k). Everything is described as working and everything seem's to be in great shape for the age. I contacted the seller, who described that she has moved the boat to another state (almost across the country) and that eBay Motors currently has possession. She said eBay would send me an invoice, and once paid, the boat would be delivered (at her cost) to me, at which point I'd have five days to test out the boat before keeping it or returning it for a full refund. Has anyone heard of a similar dynamic before? It sounds fishy, especially for the too good to be true price. I asked for an invoice so I could check with eBay Motors and confirm the legitness. Any advice would be incredibly appreciated,

Currently without a working phone but ordered one today. Once I get it in a few days I'll dig through my stuff to find a few. If I'm tying jigs though, it's usually only to make what can't be bought (very unusual). I find commercial gill patterns turn out better than mine realism wise. I know mine usually use watermelon blue with some yellow and a touch of orange. Think V&M's The Pulse Watermelon Bluegill (pictured below, not of my own work) but louder and brighter.
