  1. Thanks all! This is my first big catch of the season so far. I'm limited to public parks and pond fishing for now until I get a boat. If anyone is looking to fish in the area, let me know. I'm always up for finding new spots or just shooting the breeze while we fish.
  2. Caught this fatty on the James at Robious Landing Park. I was using a Texas rigged rubber worm and 1/8oz bullet weight while fishing a submerged tree near the shore line.
  3. Will do! I'll definitely check it out. I went to Robious landing park on the James. I was fishing the main dock by the boat ramp right along the shore and caught this pig!
  4. Dang, had no idea. The water seems extremely shallow. One of the bridges is dry. It looked like the main pond connected to the lower pond at one point where that bridge is. I'll have to look up Southlake. Never heard if it and have no idea where it is though. I roughed it out on the James today and caught my new PB which was amazing.
  5. I managed to pull out a fairly decent bass from it yesterday. Maybe 1lb or slightly less. It's really shallow so this came from a longer cast out to the middle on a rubber worm.
  6. I agree with this. For me, it's always the soft plastic worm with tail texas rigged on 2/0 hook and bullet weight. From there, if I'm not getting a bite I'll switch to a spinner bait, jig, or senko worm depending on the water I'm fishing. This seems to work well for me and I'm just a enthusiast angler fishing mostly from banks.
  7. Welcome! What part of Virginia did you move to? I'm in Richmond, VA (Midlothian to be exact). Was it the Swift Creek Reservoir you were on?
  8. Thank you all! I'm looking forward to learning from everyone in the community!
  9. Will do! I had no idea Salisbury ponds was accessible on Monday when the course is closed. That pond you mentioned near the Midlo Library, I've seen it. It's man-made though as it hasn't been there too long. I wonder if there is anything in there. The Luck's Lane pond is definitely on my list already. Thanks for the suggestions!
  10. Hello all! I am new member from the Richmond, VA area (Midlothian to be exact). I have fished on and off for the past few years, but have recently fallen back in love with it. I'm 26 years old and work from home in the I.T. field. Needless to say, I enjoy the flexibility of being able to fish when my schedule is clear for the day! I don't own or a boat or kayak (though I do plan to buy a kayak soon) so I am limited to bank fishing. I look forward to meeting and fishing with others from the area! P.S. for those with boats in the area, I will exchange beer and gas money for trips out to fish with you! I've found that some of the best fishing is done by boat in the area.
  11. Has anyone fished Loch Lothian in Midlothian at the Midlo Mines Park? I've looked on their website and there is no mention of fishing. It's a short distance up the road from me so I was thinking of checking it out. As a bank fisherman, I'm very limited on my spots to fish at until I invest in a kayak and roof rack for the car.
  12. Thanks all! I appreciate it! I actually went to Echo Lake yesterday and was surprised at how big it was. The hydrilla was almost unbearable unless you had a drop shot or spinner bait. I only had a spinner on me at the time, but this other guy there with a drop shot lure was pulling small LMB's out left and right. I'm going to get the guide like you suggested as I can't tell from Google maps what is public use and what is private use.
  13. Hello all! I'm a somewhat new angler (2 years) and am HOOKED on fishing. The only problem is that there seem to be few public places with decent fish. All of the local ponds and lakes seem to be private property belonging to some HOA. Where are some decent places to fish that won't kick you out for doing so?
  14. I'm interested in this. I'm looking to find more places to fish in the central VA area as well as most places are considered "private property" here with more and more homes constantly going up. It's getting pretty ridiculous here in Chesterfield, VA.
