Central VA meet & greet/fishing?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I wanted to see if there was any interest in meeting at a local lake to beat the banks for meeting the usual Central VA people that post on here and do some fishing?

Opinions.....?

@Sam   What do you think?

Good idea. Needs lots of planning.

how much planning do you need?  i mean we pick a lake and meet up in the morning and if people don't show you sill go fishing lol

Depending on when and where i am game...i have a new little girl due to join this world in mid july so it will be touch and go for me as it gets closer to that time.

How central are we talking? Fishing and road trips go together like drinking and fishing

I was thinking like Glen Allen area, Echo Lake.  That is fairly close to 295 (Interstate) and they are some really good fish there!  But, I am more then open to suggestions.

I dont post to often but am sometimes on here reading, but a meetup sounds like a great idea to me!

I'm in the university of Richmond area, echo is a little small if we have a decent amount of people, I would prefer a bigger bank fishing lake, or somewhere like eagles landing at Chickahominy lake were people with boats can bring their boat and someone like myself could rent a boat for cheap I believe around 35-40 for the day for a 9.5 hp John boat that can comfortably sit 2

Sounds good to me. I think it would be great to meet the guys we chat with.

I'm in

Count me in. My schedules pretty tight but I will make every effort to be there.

Let's starting throwing out places to meet and fish at.

Echo Lake is a little small and populated by John Q Public so, I am open to elsewhere.

Are we looking to do just bank fishing or is going to be a meet and greet or are we going to try and get enough boats to go out on the water.

I will throw out one of Sam's favorite lakes, ( Chesdin )

Osborne landing on The Historic James River

I'm open, but would think that bank fishing would permit us to roam around the lake/pond and talk with each other.

I am down to have a meet and greet. When and where?

Anyone have any ideas for where and when to fish?

It would be great to others input to make sure this event is enjoyable by all.

Where, is something you need a lot of input from everyone, some will be or may be driving many miles and may choose an overnight stay so accommodations may be important for those.

When, usually late spring or early fall, in the early spring, winds and storms (fronts) reek havoc on plans, late spring provides a more dependable weather pattern throughout each week and cooler temps along with a more consistent bite, same for late fall as it is for early spring.

You have to make plans early to decide what type of event you wish to have, boater/non-boater or a bank beating event, it's difficult to throw everything together in a short amount of time if you go with boater/non-boater but our state parks are a beautiful resource for those larger events.

If you decide a bank beater type event just make sure that there is ample room for all to attend, look at your bodies of water from a suggestion pool or gather up a pool from suggestions in here and pick the one most suggested by those interested and set a date.

We had a lunch when we did ours over at Anna and it turned out great so that may be a possibility as well, just have everyone bring a covered dish type sitting if you wish.

So far you have 4 single inputs for location with one possibly ruled out.

Echo (maybe)

Chesdin

Burke

Eagles Landing

I am interested. I have fished echo and it can be pretty small, considering each fishing spot could hold 2 people max unless you are on the dock. I would definitely be interested in the new areas suggested above since I've only been in Richmond for 1year-8months, and would like to try new spots.

Let's try it this way and see what we get first if you don't mind me helping W/C.

How about an input on how many will be willing to attend a bank beater event sometime in May/June?

We need a show of hands here for ALL who would attend, it's important so that we pick the right place.

For those interested and for the sake of having a hundred posts to sort through simply like this post.

NOTE: both this post and the one below will be given two weeks to gather votes.

For those who wish to have a boater/non boater event like this post.

NOTE: this event would take some planning and would most likely be held toward the end of this year.

I would be interested, but i dont think it would work for me....
