  1. As far as reels, my preference is a 6.xx gear ratio, at least 90mm handle and either aluminum or magnesium frame (no plastic). A 6'6" rod is fine. It used to be considered a long rod back in the day. I have no experience with rods you are asking about.

Hello, I found this forum because I'm laid up after a knee surgery so I won't be fishing for a long time. I live near Pittsburgh and fish out of a kayak primarily. My favorite places are lake Arthur, Cross Creek, lake Wilhelm and presque isle. I'm hoping joining this forum will help during my recovery because I'm addicted to fishing.
  3. I notice a difference on fluoro. For once, it's nice to have a product work as advertised. The only thing I don't understand is how you use it for lures?
  4. I would think 15 copoly would be fine. I'd put the reel on a MH rod.
  5. That's it. Thanks.
  6. I use the Alberto because it so easy and strong. I've used the fg too and have had it unravel on me. I'm sure it was user error but it is a pain to tie. There is one knot I saw a video for that looked like a uni to improved clinch that looked good but I can't find the video. It was one of the pro's so if anyone knows what I'm talking about please post it.
  7. When you say "finesse," how light are going? The lightest I go is 1/8 which requires a rod that can load that weight. Most manufacturers medium are too stiff. I use a klx finesse tube and worm rod rated 1/8-3/8 and a G Loomis imx cr721.
  8. I've used my curado 51e for everything but deep cranking. It will do the job but I mainly use it for finesse. I have a shallow avail spool in mine.
  9. I started with Lew's but made the switch to daiwa and shimano. I think Lew's makes some really good reels but just prefer daiwa/shimano. My buddy fishes Lew's exclusively. I'm not sure if he's just not tuning them in correctly but he backlashes a lot.
