  1. I use a 6'10" med/f casting rod for tubes. If I was to fish deeper water I'd probably use spinning gear.
  2. Fenwick makes some really nice rods. The aetos is a great choice IMO.
  3. I use braids with a copoly leader because my popper rod doubles as my jerk bait rod.
  4. I use 6.xx reels for those techniques, even 7.xx. I only use 5.xx for deep divers.
  5. I use 15 braid with 7lb sniper for leader on my drop shot set up. Its the only way to go IMO because I don't have to deal with line twist and respooling.
  6. I have 2 piece and 1 piece spinning rods and don't really notice a difference in sensitivity but I prefer 1.
  7. I'm a daiwa/shimano fan, but I have to admit those Lew's look amazing. They sure seem to pack a lot of features into their products. I wish daiwa/shimano put carbon fiber handles with 4 bearing knobs.
  8. A mh/f rod is too stout to keep treble hooks pinned. It would perfect for spinnerbaits though.
  9. I rank them: bucoo, veritas and triumph.
  10. If you must stick with just one rod then go for the medium. It will be more versatile than the MH in that line.
  11. I'm always in favor of buying the best you can afford. If you're sticking with spinning gear you can get a medium power rod which is versatile enough to handle those techniques. When I started fishing I bought a bunch of inexpensive gear which just takes up space in my garage. I regret wasting my money. I'm a big fan of pflueger presidents and still use it when I rarely pick up my spinning gear. You can get a really nice rod for about $100.
  12. It's made by sunline and pretty sure it's sunline super fluoro.
  13. I have $500+ and $50 rods and the diffence in sensitivity is dramatic in my hands. Is it 10X the sensitivity? No and I do think there is a point of diminishing returns. Sensitivity is only one part of the equation because action, balance, lightness and sheer beauty are also important to me. I can feel a big difference between $50 and $100 rods. I suppose I could probably be perfectly happy fishing rods in the $100+/- range but I am also a bit of an enthusiast.
  14. It sounds like you're getting wind knots. Make sure the rod tip loads before casting forward. It just takes a bit of practice and there are tons great videos online to help. Always close bail with you hand and not by cranking the handle.
  15. Reel magic is just silicone spray and does more harm to reels and line.
  16. I use an improved clinch and have no issues.
  17. Lots of good reels to choose from. I would look at the curado I or curado 70 or daiwa tatula CT.
  18. I don't stand up because I have bad knees and don't trust my balance so for pitching I use a back hand technique where I hold lure in my left like usual and back swing low to the water. I also use a roll cast technique.
  19. I don't like glass rods for single hook moving presentations. I do like them for cranks though. I use a 7' klx CRT which is MH and mod/fast.
  20. That just doesn't sound right. I wonder if there is something wrong with your reel. Have you tried something heavier than 3/8? Struggling to cast 20' is odd.
  21. I have no experience with the vendetta but have heard they are stiff but a rod of that rating should cast a senko without issue. It sounds like you need to try a different rod and practice alot. Are you setting up the reel properly?
  22. I like to t rig an appropriate weight and use a stopper to keep the weight in place. Some of my favorite baits are pitboss, senkos and worms. Pitch into nearby openings and weedline edges.
