  1. I use braid on my spinning gear, but I wonder if you over filled the spool.
  2. 6.XX is versatile enough to do most everything.
  3. The 6.8 is more versatile.
  4. Yes, too stiff to keep them pinned. I've done it though. Use mono, fluorocarbon or copoly and back off drag.
  5. You can throw cranks, but a mh/f rod isn't ideal. It helps if you loosen the drag.
  6. X2. Pflueger president combo.
  7. Should work perfectly. I always use 20lb braid with mono backing and 7lb fluoro leader.
  8. Agree. Maybe put 6.4 revo on the 6'8" for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and buzzbaits. Put some 15lb copoly on it. Put a 7.2 reel on the 7' mh for jigs, t-rigs, and weightless plastics with 14lb fluoro.
  9. What state is this?
  10. Sweet. If you have the met 13 let us know how it compares.
  11. Wow, I'm so jealous.
  12. American legacy has a sale on Daiwa fuego for $78 (normally $130). I'd jump on this deal if I wanted a reel under $80.
  13. Kvd line and lure makes big difference. One of my pet peeves about fluorocarbon is one tiny kink and it's over.
  14. The bps carbonlite was one of my first casting rods and I still use it. It's a great choice, but I have one of the original ones and don't have any experience with the new model.
  15. Hit the nail on the head. I find this reel incredibly versatile and user-friendly. As far as best reel, imo my favorite is my td ito, but I really love the classics. As far as new stuff I like the metanium mgl. I have a met 13, but that mgl has me itching for a new reel.
  16. The tatula or the one we don't mention would be great choices imo.
  17. My best knot is the alberto, but I'm going to experiment with the j and fg knot.
  18. There's nothing wrong with spinning gear. I just prefer the efficiency of casting gear and will try to use it whenever possible. I use spinning gear for drop shots and live bait.
  19. I use casting gear for flukes. I prefer casting gear for almost everything.
  20. Kids line and lure make a huge difference in performance.
