If it is just dug in then you should be able to pull it free. Are you sure you don't have a backlash?

I just pull them out without any issues. Also use at least 30lb braid. Lighter braid is so thin and susceptible to digging in.

If your primary technique is t-rigs and bottom contact, I say go for the 852.

Do you mean 842mbr? The 852 is extra fast vs 842 fast. Both have very light tips, but the 852 transitions quicker into the back bone. The 842 is more parabolic but not a noodle. The back bone on both rods is surprisingly powerful. The 842 is more versatile and capable with treble hooked baits as well as t-rigs and jigs. The 852 is a bit more specialized as a t-rig and jig, bottom-contact rod. Both are awesome rods you can't lose on.

Everyone has their opinions and preferences, but here's the takeaway: they both work obviously because people are catching fish either way. Try both and see what you like.

I'd pick up a daiwa fuego on sale @ American legacy for $78. I don't think you'll a better reel under $80. As far as rods I've heard good things about Berkeley lightening shock for about $50.

Finesse casting reels are expensive and they are only 1 piece of the puzzle because you'll also need a capable rod that can load and cast light lures. I'd say just go with spinning gear. Most spinning reels are capable of casting light stuff because of the design. Personally, I have several finesse casting combos because I just prefer casting gear. None of my combos are under $300 and these are on the cheaper side.

Try some kvd line and lures conditioner. Heavier fluoro tends to be stiffer and have more memory. I have good luck with sniper and heard tatsu is one of the best. If you can afford it, don't skimp on line.

So what's the verdict? I've heard the mgl is smoother and casts lighter stuff a little better than the previous model. I've been staring at the mgl all night. I'm wondering if it's noticeably better than the my met 13 xg.

My senko rod is the only one I have straight fluoro on. In theory, the fluoro will give the bait a more natural fall because it sinks. A lot of bites happen on the fall so the slack line sensitivity of fluoro helps you feel the subtle bites.

I only had 2 of the previous models: 6'6" mh/f and a mojo glass crankster. The crankster was one of my favorite cranking sticks and I regret selling it. The 6'6" is the rod I didn't like at all. I may have just picked the wrong model. The new one with the scIII blank should be amazing.

It seems like such a strange reel. Saltwater, finesse, shallow spool with a 102mm handle. Interesting, but trying to understand what role it fills. It sort of reminds me of the brenious.

After casting, I do adjust my hand forward to palm the reel with my index finger under the line at the line guide. I do it without thinking anymore and it's second nature.

What baits are you using?

Do yourself and get some line conditioner, but don't use reel magic. Kvd line and lure is good stuff.

I'm right handed and I use only left hand reels. IMO you got the correct side, especially if you're used to spinning reels with the handle on the left side.

You can use spinning gear for just about everything. I used to use spinning gear exclusively, but when I bought my first bait caster and learned how use it I switched to almost exclusively using casting gear. The advantage I find is the ability to use heavier line and lures, cranking spinner baits and crank baits is easier, more power for heavy cover, casting is more efficient, more accuracy and just overall funner to use. Disadvantage: addictive and potentially expensive. Spinning gear is better for live bait and finesse techniques like drop shot, Ned rig, shaky heads, but I use bfs which is expensive.

I'm also up north. I use a megabass XX perfect pitch/zillion 50th anniversary and a klx 7'3" heavy/Shimano exsence dc. I have 40lb braid on both.

The silver hawk is the better rod.
