So I have been thinking of buying a finesse fishing casting rod to add to my arsenal. The TFO Gary Loomis Tactical Drop Shot Casting Rod looks great in my opinion and has all the specs that I would like for a simple finesse fishing rod, but the only issue is that it is made for drop shots and not finesse. Will this rod be good enough for finesse fishing? Another thing is, which rod would you prefer for a finesse presentation, the Lew's TP-1 Speed Stick IM8 Casting Rod or the TFO Gary Loomis Tactical Drop Shot Casting rod(both medium light with a fast action)? Thanks!

Other than what was already shown(which is all really nice). Do you guys know any good casting finesse setup that is good for Texas rigging and worms?

Well it's pretty hard to spend only $100-$150 on only a rod and reel but my suggestion would be the Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series Casting Reel and the Lew's American Hero Speed Stick Casting Rod. It is $170 combined but they are one of the best lower priced reel and rod on the market.

The Shimano Curado 200 I Casting Reel is fantastic. This reel can practically do anything you want it to do. If you get the right settings on this thing you can make it so it can cast pretty far and have there be practically no backlashes.

Cousin's rods are absolutely amazing to use for practically everything. I own three of there IM8 series casting rods and they are great rods but they are on the more expensive side of things.

A great new casting rod and reel would be the Lew's American Hero Speed Stick Casting Rod (medium heavy) pair up with the Lew's Speed Spool LFS Series Casting Reel. This will add up to around $170 but it is definitely worth it. It's an all-purpose rod that you can throw almost everything you want except for some large swim baits. The rod is very sturdy and comfortable in your hand. The Speed Spool LFS is very smooth and perfect for anyone coming into the baitcaster world.

@buzed bait Well my type of finesse fishing I'm mostly made up of Texas rigging soft plastics such as craws, worms or creature baits on a 4/0 offset hook weightless or like a shaky head and wacky rig. Most of them are weightless but occasionally I will add an 1/4 tungsten weight. Hope that helps a little bit.

In my opinion a great rod for under a $100 would be the Lew's TP-1 Speed Stick. This thing is sweet and is very durable and well made. It comes in all types of actions from medium light to heavy for $99.99. If the Lew's TP-1 is too expensive then I would go with the Lew's American Hero Speed Stick. It is also durable and well made and the thing looks and feels good for only $69.99.

I still pretty new into bass fishing so I have recently been interested in expanding my arsenal and want to buy a finesse fishing reel and rod setup. But the only issue is that I do not know which type of reel would be the best for finesse fishing (spinning or baitcaster). I have started using a baitcaster and have loved it! But I am wondering whether it would be better to use a spinning reel for finesse bass fishing rather than a casting reel. What type of reel should I use for finesse fishing?
